Clayed, polished, and waxed the hood last night. Today I got major water spots from a sprinkler and just washed the car again to try and get them off. I was feeling the hood with the bag test to see if I needed to clay again and it would barely slide/wouldnt even move on most of it. There are no bumps, it just feels like its sticking. Is this because of the wax or did something get screwed up when I polished it?

Sooo just finished washing it... of course it didnt come out with a wash. Do I need to clay it all over again(since i used machine wax on it) or can I just go straight to the polish? Oh and its all the way down the passenger side of the car.

Finally tried the PC on the g8 last night on the hood. Clayed the whole thing then used fine polish with a white pad(just minor light swirl marks). It looked great didnt get it 100% swirl free but its my DD and looked way better(at least in the garage last night). I finished it up with a coat of machine wax. Drove to work this morning. Come out after work to my car to find this(see pic).... :( Appearntly someone decided to fix/turn on the sprinkler system that is by the road that runs by my office parking lot. Me parking as far away from everyone as I can my car got hosed. Just wanted to vent. Sigh I hope those come out with just a wash.

So did I. The 6" counter weight came in the box with the polishes and pads. Thats why I thought I needed to use it.

Do you not drive your car until you finish the whole thing or what?

Hmmm the kit says "Adam's Dual-Action Velcro Backing Plate, 5-7/8" so I guess I should use the 6" one since thats closer? Thanks for the help all this stuff is new to me.

One more question I just looked in the bottom of my box and found the metal crescent(half circle) that says use with 6 inch pads only. Am I supposed to take the one that came with the PC off that says use with 5 inch pads only and put the 6 inch one on?

What other one? There are 2 washers?

Just got my pc in the mail. There was some kind of washer that came with it. Do I need to put this on? I have been using it without that and it seems to wobble an awful lot but this is my first time with a pc so maybe its supposed to do that.

Yeah dont even get me started on all the nicks on the front in the only 4 months since i've had it. The paint sucks. I think my wifes camry has less and hers is a 2007.

Oh its nice a chunky. Thanks I'll try that out. I went over it when I washed the car with the wash pad and I got tons of pieces of rubber in it(had to get my other) and was scared of scratching the paint.

I've got some rubber still on my paint from doing burnouts at the track last weekend. What do you recomend to get this off?

Well I went at it with the Clay(my first time I didnt do it all the way correctly I dont think) and it looks a lot better. The lighting is a little different so its hard to tell but you can see a circle or "darker spot" in the 2nd pic. I hit it with some buttery wax to seal it until next week. Im hoping it comes out all the way when I clay the whole car again and use SHR and polish with the PC later.

Good to know I was scared I was marring the paint when it started leaving clay residue.

Well I tried it twice more. It's definately a helluva lot smoother then the non clayed part but its not "glass" smooth. I'm not really sure what im doing wrong. Could it be the heat? Im doing it in the garage but its 103 outside. It seems like the detail spray either gets to be a lot(like puddled up) or I mist it and it dries up real quick and starts leaving clay residue.

Is it possible to have too much detail spray when claying? I'm putting a ton of it on and the bar is gliding but there is still some stuff left on I can feel with a bag on my hand, even after i've gone over it 3 different times.

Thanks for the reply. I'll post up tommorow whether it gets it out this evening or not. One other question related to clay. Is it bad for me to say clay the car this saturday and then wait a week and SHR/Polish/wax after another wash. Basically can I split up the process of should I do it all at once clay/shr/polish/wax?

So I walk out to my car this morning to get in and notice a quarter size pile of bird crap with all kinds of nasty looking seeds and stuff on it. I normally walk around my car at night with detail spray and clean off stuff like this but yesterday I was in a hurry and didnt. I grab the detail spray and mf wipe it off(it comes off pretty easy). Look down and notice what looks like some still on there so try to spray and wipe again(with a clean portion of the towel of course). Nothing happens. I run my hand over the spot and its perfectly smooth. I attached a pic of what it looks like now. It almost looks like it ate thru the clear coat. I just got my adams clay a few days ago(ive never used clay before) so I was thinking when I get home I'll try to clay it and hopefully:xfingers: it will get it out. I also ordered the PC kit which the PC is supposed to be coming on Monday. I was planning on clay/swirl remove/polish/wax the whole car July 4th weekend. So is it bad to clay the car twice in such a short period of time? I'll only be claying that spot and the area around it today and then the whole car July 4th weeknd. What is the recomended frequency of claying? Also does that spot look like it will come out with Clay?

I was just worried about getting little fuzzies/thread in the glass towels from the other MF stuff which would then stick to the window. Thats what happened when I cleaned the window with a reg MF towel.

Just joined up. Been getting advice from Dylan on the grrr8 board. Figured I'd come over here and learn some more stuff.

I just got my glass cleaning towels last week.(They work great!) I might have missed it but I wasn't sure how to clean these? Can they be washed/dryed? Im assuming if so they should be washed/dryed seperately from the rest of the MF towels to avoid fibers.
