  1. I know this topic has come up in the past, but I wanted to run the situation past the collective experts here. I was rear ended last month and part of the damage repair includes a new bumper (and paint). I spoke with my body shop about curing times and subsequent paint protection, and they advised that the baking process substantially cuts down the curing time of older paints where solvents would take significantly longer to cure. Their recommendation was to wait at least two weeks prior to washing and applying any kind of LPS (liquid paint sealant followed by G&G and buttery wax in my case). I'd like to get some protection down as soon as possible, but not rush the new paint. I live in Ohio, and we are expecting rain and potentially snow tomorrow when I pick up my car -- this means that salt will be on the roads. I hope that's not going to affect the new bumper. Does anyone here have first-hand experience with freshly painted vehicles (or portions)?

    Bees

Now that you mention it, my white car seems to attract bees more frequently after it has been freshly washed and finished with detail spray or G&G. Maybe we’re both crazy, but I swear I’ve noticed the same thing!
  3. Liquid paint sealant doing its thing. Going to top this off with some G&G tomorrow morning:
  4. I strip washed, clayed, did a two-stage correction, and finished with liquid paint sealant to my wife's 2009 Lexus RX-350. Looked incredible for 24 hours before the rain started. I'm kicking myself because I didn't grab a picture. I put in 10 hours worth of work over the course of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Next time I'll learn from my mistakes and grab a picture before allowing her to drive around in the rain!
  5. Thank you for confirming my initial thoughts of simply leaving the sections taped after the finishing polish. For reference, how difficult is the LPS to remove from plastic and trim pieces if some were to sling or rub? All rubber and plastic trim is treated with VRT.
  6. I have a new 2017 Mazda CX-5 that is going to get stripped, clayed, finish polished, and then topped with liquid paint sealant. My plan is to apply LSP with a DA polisher. My question is whether or not I need to be diligent about hitting rubber trim, badges, and plastic cladding with the LSP as I would with a polishing compound. I will be taping all surfaces prior to the finishing polish. Should I leave the tape in place before hitting it with the LSP, or is it safe for rubber and trim? I don't want to spend half of a day trying to remove stains/marks from trim and rubber. Thanks for the advice!
  7. Thanks, all. Originally from Wisconsin, so the Browns can fall into Lake Erie for all I care!
  8. I think this is officially my second posting here, but wanted to introduce myself to the community. I've been building my supply of Adam's goods for the past couple of months, and lurking here for a while longer, and figured it was finally time to legitimize said lurking. Thanks to all in the community who have already provided a wealth of knowledge. Cheers, Chris
