  2. You asked for advice on taking amazing photographs...for me, it starts with composition...best advice is "rule of thirds"

With today's camera, almost any camera can take a great photograph...

I currently use a Canon Mark III, IV, 50d, wide variety of lenses from a 400mm to a 15mm, plus I have a Nikon V1, and a Leica V-Lux 4 here in Afghanistan...you just need to know how to use it...

For explanation of the rule of thirds...check out these two links...

    http://digital-photography-school.com/rule-of-thirds

Here is a link to my webpage, I am by par no professional...my father was before he passed, but he taught me everything I know...and I have made some money on the side as a freelance photographer...

But it is not about making money off your prints, it was about capturing amazing shots...look into the rule of thirds and you will impress yourself and your family!  We can do amazing things with just a camera body and a 50mm lens.

  3. This is a blast! I was able to attend in 2011, and took my 08 Vette Z06 around the track...33 degree banks going into turn 1 is pretty darn cool! Fastest I got was 148MPH on the back straightaway...the vette would have pulled more but some of the safety rules (no passing, follow pace car, etc)...but you meet a lot of great people...and it is all about the cause...supports Vets, wounded warriors, etc...definitely recommend it! I have a video of my trip, posted it to facebook...I mounted a Contour camera to the outside of the vette...made it to music...will try to find the link...

  4. Randy,

Read more, 6.0L swap...holy cow, that is going to be sweet...

I am here in Kabul until June...

Until early summer. We didn't get saddled with the full year tour fortunately. I am sure the sight of your Z06 all covered up like that was a bummer. Currently, my 350Z is sitting on jacks under a cover in my garage too. The '55 in my avatar is in the shop undergoing a heart transplant. :D
  5. Sounds like you need to do the same bro, you guys have been busy done south...you stay safe!

I am loving your ride...from the pic...looks very nice...

I am missing my 08 Vette Z06...Victory Red. Saw it last month while home on R&R, looked lonely in the garage covered up...

How much longer do you have over here?

Stay safe up there. I feel your withdrawal pains as well brother!
  6. ah...the smell of Adam's Detail Spray...like homemade apple pie...ok, maybe not...but close:)

All is well here, thanks for the support...

I can only imagine me, with my team in full battle gear trying to explain the importance of claying a vehicle first or proper use of the porter cable...in this place...that would be quite a challenge since few speak english and not many of us speak Dari or Pashtun...but that would be one for the photo ops...

Sounds cold in DC, and down south to Richmond. My wife is in Hampton, and received some snow as well...cold too...here in Kabul we are surrounded by snow capped mountains, actually a pretty amazing sight...and it is cold...feels like my days growing up in Massachusetts...

Things here are going well...again, appreciate all of the support

Besides my lovely wife of course, one thing to look forward to is my soon to be New 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT...I am ordering it next month from the military car sales...Deep Cherry Pearl...dreaming of the first detail job I give it in June...the things we appreciate right!

Alright, getting late over here...so will sign off...

  7. Hello everyone, and Happy New Year...

I am deployed for a year in Afghanistan, been here since June...and have another 6 months to go...

Just got back from R&R, so had a little taste of home but boy do I miss my Vette...I think I have having detailing withdrawal...does Adam's sell anything for that?

I was on a mission today in Kabul and I saw a few Afghans washing their vehicles...it was pretty funny considering "our process"...budget of dirty water on the side of the road is what they are using...no soap, and I do not think they would know what to do with wax or a polish...

Anyways, reading all the posts, thought I would say hello!

    :pc: Miss my Porter Cable!

    Scott
