  1. Alright so I finally decided on what to detail for my detail something different.... Genesis Rescue Systems Hydraulic Combi Tool A.K.A Jaws of Life or The Jaws! :D

I used APC, Metal Polish and some SVRT. Soaked down the entire thing with APC to get rid of any oils, hydraulic oil and other crud that's accumulated over the past few years. I followed up by giving a nice polish to the entire tool with some Metal Polish #1. Finally I finished with some SVRT onto the rubber shroud around the cutting/spreading portion of the tool.

I could not polish the black handle because it has teeth to grip your hand. Keep in mind the tool is about 10-15 years old and has been used to extricate people from cars on accident scenes.

I'm very pleased with the results and kind of proud of my creativeness of the last photo. ;)

I also believe these are 100% Made In The USA :patriot:

  2. Surprisingly, that's actually not with the MBPR. The upgrade option for 16GB (8GB is standard) is only $200. That's in the ballpark with what 3rd party venders are charging for 2 8GB modules.

Actually thats quite out of the park. Thats double what 16gb Memory Kit costs.

Look it up on Amazon there are 16gb Kits for under $100.

  3. I want the display though..

Have you seen one in person yet? I would go look at an HD MBP 15 and a Retina 15 side by side then decide. I just think the Retinas are a lot of money and you can't upgrade without spending a ton of money.

  4. Alright heres the thing. The new "Retina" laptops aren't upgradable at all. Can't swap out SSD or RAM. So if you REALLY want a Retina laptop go big or go home.

However I would recommend sticking to a regular MacBook Pro and getting a 17" Refurbished one instead. You don't get the USB 3.0 but with cloud storage on the uprise how fast/much do you really need your USB to be? Pretty much the exact same Processor and HDD and RAM can all be upgraded at any time. You can also still buy the 3 Year Warranty.

I'd pick the MBP 17 Refurb...

Just my $0.02 as your friendly Apple Tech.

  5. No college education?

Still going. I'm taking online classes just because I have no time to go to class.

I have certifications, which in the computer world is better than a degree most of the time.

Do you have the summer off? If so, use that time to look for something else. Talk to your parents, help them understand that you are frustrated too. They might know some who knows someone...

No summers off. I don't want to leave this job because I want my bosses job and he's close to retirement but I need to find a way to live for the next 2-3 years before he retires.

    What happend to Firefighting???

Have to be a Paramedic and I had a hard enough time passing the EMT class to get into the paramedic program. Not worth it and I'm not interested in anything medical. I wanted to cut people out of cars and fight fires not ride on the disease wagon and bring home all the nasty crap to my family.

  6. Alright so I'm going to get personal here and I'm at the point where I really don't care.

I started my job as a Technology Assistant/Coordinator 4 years ago when I was 19 at a school district in Illinois. It was only supposed to be a temporary job for me, I planned on staying 1 year tops. Well plans changed and times changed. I decided to switch my career path back to Technology from Firefighting so I kept the job. I really love the people here and I feel extremely comfortable here and don't want to leave. Last year they moved me from part time to full time (20 hrs to 30 hrs a week). Not great but I get benefits. I'm barely making $25,000 a year doing what I do and it's really starting to get to me.

I went and took some classes to earn a little more responsibility around here and I am now certified to do all of our Apple repairs which is 75% of our repairs. When I started I was just a "Break Fix" guy and now I am doing server management, Apple repairs, asset management on top of the 800 help tickets I get in a 9 month school year.

This past year they started making cuts because Illinois sucks to live in. So I didn't get a raise and every single Aide in the school district got rifted for the 2012-13 school year....

I'm sick of living at home. I get threatened every day by my parents that I need to move out but I just can't afford it on my own or even if I had a roommate. I'm really at a loss what to do. The superentindates secretary says I should ask him for a raise and see what he says but I don't see it happening. I'm not even making Salary I'm paid hourly so that even sucks. I typed up a letter with some statistics if I do ask for a raise....

    Any suggections? :help:

  7. The grocery store that I frequent does it.

    Smith's - My Smith's - My Rewards

    And so does Subway.

    Subway Rewards Card

    Marriott Hotels does it.

Marriott Rewards - Marriott Rewards program at Marriott.com

Just fiqured out this year to pay my annual fees with the card and earn triple points.

Do these places also do sales for every holiday and daily specials?

I think the only way would be to give up the specials we already get if this is what you guys really want. Which in turn would probably lead to more expensive products and it wouldn't be worth it at all.

  8. Please tell me how business and money works?

    Sorry you are so "disappointed".

I'm not going to start this argument and I don't think you should ether.

These days I think everyone is asking every business for more and more and more, for less. Just tough times.

I agree it's tough times but it's not just tough times for consumers it's tough for everyone.

It's called "PREMIUM" car care for a reason.

  9. This has been brought up before. It's not going to happen. I think everyone is wasting their time.

I remember it being posted last year and the year before.

I'm getting highly disappointed lately whenever I get on the forum. The last week it seems like every day there is a new thread trying to get stuff for free or get a sale.

Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a company have as many sales and deals as what Adam's does. This is getting out of hand and I have a feeling something bad will come out of it because everyone keeps asking for more and more and more.

The more sales and free stuff a company gives away the less money they make. When they start to make less money they do away with the sales or jack up the prices. It's all logical. In the very end... You end up paying the same price.

I feel like you guys don't understand how money and business works.

    Rather disappointed... :(
