  1. I have not used the forums in over a year and have not been detailing recently due to a new job, so I am a bit out of the game and would like to ask you guys for your opinion.

I recently got a used (new-ish) car. Last night I was giving my brother and his wife a ride home and as they were getting into the car they manage to chip a piece of clear coat off the rear passenger door. A bit of a story but Im just trying to keep things short. I looked at it this morning and it looks like it did not chip off any paint, but did chip off a piece of clear coat. Its hard to tell if it got down to the paint or not but there is a chip in the clear coat. Would it be safe to just have someone sand it down a bit and polish to smooth it out. What would be my best option. If there is nothing that isnt too invasive or risky I might opt to just ask the dealer to refer me to their touch up specialist and see how much that would cost, but id like to keep the cost low seeing as my brother would probably be paying for it and dont want it to be cumbersome. I havent mentioned it to him but im sure he'll pay for it.

Also, just want to see if there are any detailers in the south bay area (california). Ive been meaning to get my car detailed, but I'd rather get it done by an adams polished user as I know you guys take pride in your work. The person that I would have normally contacted has not e-mailed me back so im not sure if he is still in the detailing business.

    Thanks guys.

  2. Thanks and no its not. As long as the light from the tail light can be seen atleast 500ft. The sidemarkers there is no law.

I have a question for you Mr. the1inblue.

I just baught a car on firday. The car came with the tinted tailights(probably darkest). However, this doesnt look like film, it looks like it as some kind of spray type of tint bacause it looks like the tint "ran down" in one spot.

Anyhow... I was driving the car late last night and i got pulled over by one of your California buddies (an officer):P . He explained that my drivers windows cannot be tinted so dark (they are like 1 shade down from limo, rear windows are limo tint i beleive......yea idk wtfallujah the guy was thinking..i cant even see out the back window when im trying to park:p)

    My question is....

You say the lights are okay as long as they are visible from 500ft. Does this mean they must be seen from 500 ft while driving, or while breaking?

Since my car has LED lights, its no problem to see the lights when im breeaking, but because the tint is so dark its hard to see them when im driving.(I do realize because I live in california laws may vey well be different)

Last question. This one is for anyone who has knowledge on the subject.,

Is there a way to poilish off some of this tint? Like say if i were to cover try and polish little squares where the lights are so i dont have to completely remove the tint. The tailights he noticed everywhere... even by cops unfortunatly.

Heres a pic to show you what mine looks like.

The second pic shows the part that makes it lok like it was paint that ran.

    Thanks all.

  3. I've had mine for nearly a year now, no chips or peeling here!

A lot of people plastidip their wheels FOR winter, so this stuff is meant to be durable

It sounds like I'm a rep for the company if you read all my posts, but I swear I'm not hahaha

When you dont want the coating or need to recoat, How hard is it to remove this stuff?
