  1. I have not used the forums in over a year and have not been detailing recently due to a new job, so I am a bit out of the game and would like to ask you guys for your opinion. I recently got a used (new-ish) car. Last night I was giving my brother and his wife a ride home and as they were getting into the car they manage to chip a piece of clear coat off the rear passenger door. A bit of a story but Im just trying to keep things short. I looked at it this morning and it looks like it did not chip off any paint, but did chip off a piece of clear coat. Its hard to tell if it got down to the paint or not but there is a chip in the clear coat. Would it be safe to just have someone sand it down a bit and polish to smooth it out. What would be my best option. If there is nothing that isnt too invasive or risky I might opt to just ask the dealer to refer me to their touch up specialist and see how much that would cost, but id like to keep the cost low seeing as my brother would probably be paying for it and dont want it to be cumbersome. I havent mentioned it to him but im sure he'll pay for it. Also, just want to see if there are any detailers in the south bay area (california). Ive been meaning to get my car detailed, but I'd rather get it done by an adams polished user as I know you guys take pride in your work. The person that I would have normally contacted has not e-mailed me back so im not sure if he is still in the detailing business. Thanks guys.
  2. You should be able to significantly minimize or remove those scratches on hood or trunk so long as they are not beyond the clear coat.
