  1. So i always said to myself i wouldnt buy adams microfiber towels because they were to darn expensive. I would always buy an 8pack of towels at wal-mart for 5$.

Well with some of the specials i wound up buying i got a bunch of free towels with them. I've kept them in the bags and never used them.

So today i decided i would detail my powerdercoated wheels i had in the garage. (Summer wheels) These are powdercoated gloss black and look like someone cleaned them with a dry paper towel. Theres swirl marks everywhere! So i took my porter cable and did a full correction on them.

After i did the first wheel, i had the paint damn near perfect. I was admiring it and thought "WOW, that looks great". I grabbed one of my wal-mart towels and buffed off the residue, and to my amazement.... i scratched the **** out of the wheels!!! The towel was brand new, clean, right out of the package... (it was really easy to see on these wheels how much i scratched them because the wheels are gloss black, and they were right under these super bright lights) .So i redid the correction to get all the scratches i just made. I then decided it was time to open up an adams microfiber towel and see what all the buzz was about.

Well i opened it up, and holy cow is that thing soft. (i could only imagine the double soft). I have terribly dry skin, and microfiber towels always wind up latching on to my hands, the adams towels did not though. It was so soft!! So i went and buffed off the residue with this new amazingly soft towel, and to my amazement, NO SCRATCHES! Perfection.

I was always against spending the money on adams towels, i felt they did the same thing any other towel would do.. Well i was so wrong.

My next order is going to consist of waterless wash towels, great white drying, single soft, double soft, and the glass towels. I could not believe ive been using such crap towels for so long. Man was i missing out!! I wont trust any other towel to touch my paint! Thanks adams for such a great product!!!

Grasshopper.....a valuable lesson you have learned, your eyes are now wide open!!!!!!!!

I did the same thing as you when I bought my 2011 GS, I now have close to 50 Adams towels, the DS are by far my favorite.

  2. Hey Mook, I feel yeah, had a ton of shoulder issues, to the point I was forced to back off from keeping the vette spotless. Had surgery and long story short, there are several simple stretches and excercises that I now do targeting the muscles around the shoulders. Thay have worked miracles, just a few minutes a day. At first I thought "no way" this bs will never work. Boy was I wrong. Consider asking your doc, about these, if any of your issues are shoulder related.

By the way I take a bunch of vits, multi, c, d, fish oil, saw palmetto, red yeast rice etc.....expensive...kinda, do they work???? All I can say is, I leterally never get sick, not the flu, nothing!!!

For me, it its not broke don't fix it. I had blood work done 6 months ago and ....all good.

    Just my .02.

  3. I find something that works and stick to it. That just happened to be Adams...

Although, I have been wanting to get my hands on some of the Zaino yellow borderless towels to see how they compare to the double and single softs. They are very popular and always out of stock.

I picked up several of these prior to finding adams. I prefer the DS over them anyday. Actually gave the z towels to my son.

  4. Add my brother and I to the list. 20 yrs ago we started recycling to make a few extra bucks...long story short, we now have 20 employees. First 15 yrs were tough to say the least. At times not taking a paycheck to make sure our guys got theirs. Honesty integrity, under promise and over deliver are our keys to success. 5 years ago we started flipping houses to work on our retirement plan that is going well. 1 year we opened our first coin laundry...we are fortunate, also doing well. Never give up on your dreams, many mistakes have been made and each one was a learning opportunity which made us stronger.

So now we operate 3 businesses and are set to have the means to fully retire with passive income from our rental properties in 4 yrs. I will be 50. Yay! Somehow I just don't see us sitting around eating Bon Bons all day watching Oprah! But that will be our choice and nobody elses.

I am a huge advocate of owning your own business, easy....hell no! Worth it?.....absulutely without a doubt....

  5. I generally wait until most of my DS towels are dirty and do one large load. About 20 -25 per load. I do not presoak my DS, just 2oz Adams revitalizer and they come out nice and white all grunge, dirt, dye....gone.

I do however presoak my other towels that are used everywhere but paint. They turn out great as well.

I can't imagine why you are having issues.

Are you adjusting the water level down on your washer to compensate for the small load. If not there could be issues with dilution.

  6. Admittedly, I'm biased toward Lance, but I feel like this whole thing reeks of a witch hunt. Does the USADA even have the jurisdiction to strip Tour de France titles? Isn't that UCI's call? Either way, it just seems suspicious that after all the drug tests he passed at the time of his winning that they keep coming after him. Someone obviously has an axe to grind.

Who knows, maybe he did use something. But again, he passed dozens of tests at the time. No one was under more scrutiny than Lance Armstrong. I still consider him a 7-time Tour winner.

I am with you on this!!!!!

  7. Venting is no problem, I do it often to trusted friends....sometimes I may have a good reason other times, well not so much!

As far as the GW go, just rewash them, they wil be fine. Consider telling future guests that you have bath towels for them to use or tell them that these special little white towels are infused with specific chemicals for your car and they will cause blisters and a rash if used on the skin.

  8. Well last weekend I finally did it after having the products for over a year, my brother and I did some paint correction on his 2002 Audi A4. We only went up to the Swirl & Haze Remover as the swirls and scratches weren't THAT bad.

First things first is the lessons I learned:

    - Although I had a canopy that had the sides open and we were on a new concrete driveway, doing this in the rain is NOT suggested. We couldn't fit the entire car under so its covered without rain falling so we had to do half of the car completely, and then go on to the other half.

    - Rain also makes it a pain for the extension cords to stay clean, for the pads to not get wet

    - TAPE OFF THE RUBBER PARTS and seals around windows and such, including sunroof. Pads got dirty extremely quick

    - Have a spare set of pads incase the situation above arises and you need to wash the pad. It will NOT dry off very quickly =/

    Questions:

I made the mistake of not having setting up a separate bucket to put the dirty towels in and since I didn't tape off the seals and such, towels also got dirty quickly.

So now, at least one of each of my towels has dark marks/spotting on it. I also washed the great white with some other blue drying towels I had and they got colored =/

Towels affected: Glass cleaner, drying, single/double soft, waterless

    1. Will my towels ever be 100% white again? Probably not

    2. I already soaked them apc the microfiber restorer thing I have (the one adams sells is going to be ordered on next batch!!) washed them twice in the machine, and they've gotten slightly better, if i was to use them again, will i screw up my paint and cause swirls or is this just different coloring and I shouldn't be worried? You should be fine, hopefully you did not use softner

    3. One of my focus pads disintegrated when I was doing the door handle, the rest of them are completely fine and I used them the same way. Has this happened to anyone (pictures below) Been there done that

    4. Anything I can do to bring them back to their clean state? Unfortunately probably not.

Not sure what else I can ask, so that's it for now!

See above and come back when you have more questions and need :help:!!!

    Dna

Never heard of it but after reading the link, it is very interesting.

Might have to apply to my Adams products!!!

  9. If USAA treats their employees as well as they treat their customers then you are in great shape.

As a member, I love them.

    Good for you.

  10. Peter,

You have all of your preliminary process correct: wash, clay, and polish. Revive is primarily used for hand polishing, however, it can be useful for light polishing on some vehicles with a PC when mixed with Fine Machine Polish. That is another subject.

Here is what I typically tell people.

Quick Sealent (QS) was developed as a synthetic sealent similar to Machine Super Sealent and was not expected to last more than a couple of months. However, real-world testing has seen it dimish as long as 5 months after application. It is an easy to use, short-term protection product. Its best quality is that it cures in 30 minutes (more on this in a moment). QS is great for door jambs, trunk jambs, and wheels.

Machine Super Sealent is similar to QS. Biggest differences, it lasts longer, is applied by machine, and takes 24 hours to cure. Both sealents must be applied directly to the vehicle finish.

Brilliant Glaze is an amazing product. Its thin application provides some protection to your finish but does not last long on its own. When combined with a sealent and/or wax it will "flatten" your finish by filling in micro scratches and provides a level surface on which to lay your choice of wax on top of. This will give you your best depth of shine. You can either place Brilliant Glaze on your finish or on top of a sealent. When you apply BG over a sealent you have to consider the cure time of the sealent. The sealent must fully cure before applying BG. This is why most prefer QS as it sets up much quicker. BG also has a detergent in it and is optically clear. Feel free to use it on your windows as a short-term glass sealent in a pinch.

Buttery Wax is a liquid caranuba and Americana a paste caranuba. Personally I prefer Americana. It is a superior product and when applied is less wasteful. Americana is more expensive, but more is apllied to the finish (less loss in the applicator), cures harder, and provides better protection and shine. Buttery wax tends to accumulate in the applicator but is more economcially priced. Both products provide excellent results. When either is applied over Brilliant Glaze, the BG and wax create a depth effect.

Here is your options for protection:

-Quick Sealent or Machine Sealent applied to the vehicle finish.

-Buttery Wax or Americana applied to the finish.

-Brilliant Glaze applied to the finish with Buttery or Americana applied over the BG.

-Sealent applied to the finish, with a layer of BG on top of the sealent, then wax on top of the BG. (Quick Sealent, Brilliant Glaze, then American is my prefered method. This provides the best possible shine and depth in the least amount of time). The sealent protects the car, the BG protects the Sealent, and the Wax protects the BG. This will provide the best shine and depth and longest lasting protection.

    Hope this helps.

Excellent answer, but could you be more specific?

  11. Welcome and you will find plenty of help here.

I few more questions will surely come your way to help understand "exactly" your issue.

How long did you wait before trying to remove the wax? You possibly waited to long and if it was applied a bit heavy combined with to long wait time....it becomes very difficult to remove.

  12. :welcomebanner::cheers: Sure love the C3.

Be careful not to use off the shelf microfiber towels on your C3. MF that is otc can very possibly/probably swirl up your paint.

I found this out the hard way before finding Adams.
