  1. Is there a special way to go about cleaning it? Or do I have to use the K&N cleaning stuff.

As far as cleaning....all you need to do is make a mixture of warm water using either 409. simple green or adams all purpose cleaner....using a spray bottle. You want to spray the outside of the filter liberally. Wait a couple of minutes....

Rinse off using a hose from the inside outward. Rinse until water runs clear.

Dry the filter by shaking or swinging it to remove the majority of water

& allowing it to dry naturally. Do not use heat or compressed air.

Sitting over crumpled newspaper helps speed the drying process.

Now you need to go to your local auto store or use K&N brand and buy a spray can of Air Filter Oil. (Purchase ahead of time)

Once completely dried....spray on even coat to the outside of the filter with the air filter oil...length-wise along each pleat.

DO NOT OVER OIL! You do not want to see oil drippings from excessive spraying.

Wait a few minutes & touch up any thin or missed pleats using a tooth brush.

Set oiled filter on newspaper again to make sure you did not over oil.

  2. Yes but the beauty of plastidip is being able to go back stock or change the color at anytime.

iagree.gif....plus that brake dust releaser looks very interesting! :2thumbs:

  3. I'm sort of a newbie here but I'm probably one of the oldest age-wise. 74 years young!

I love modifying & detailing cars which gives me a lot of satisfaction & pride!

    So here's my contribution:

Pic 1 My first Z car show event with my wife Erika.

Pic 2 Our 40th Anniv. celebration six years ago.

Pic 3 My wife Erika who btw is a great cook with Tyler Florence.

    Pic 4 Our dog Sparkles.

  4. Thanks for posting to wear gloves!

I tried the DWC today on my DD 2000 Lexus RX300.

The wheels were in vey nasty shape....much build-up toward the barrel plus the barrel was really bad. It took me 3 applications for each wheel outter lip.

I'm satisfied....I would like to add that when spraying, it did not cling onto the rim like I thought it would....sort of ran down quickly so I laid my brush down on a clean towel to catch the drippings.

  5. Is this an all or nothing trade? I'd love the have another double soft - and I have an "extra" quick sealant.

op said he would trade items using retail pricing.

    double soft towels msrp $14.95

    Quick sealant msrp $19.95

My suggestion would be....trade your quick sealant + $10 for both of his double soft towels.

  6. thanks Jerry, but i think i'll pass. its a little out of my price range for what i'm looking for. if i can't find a big block numbers matching how i want for the right price, i was thinking about getting a small block model already restored and drop in an LS engine and 6 speed.

if it was documented numbers matching, he could double his offer. :willy:

    No problem Ryan.

Yeah, that's exactly what the guy said to me....if all the numbers matched it would be doubled plus....he did say everything matched except for the motor which is a L88 but not documented. There is a lot more money into the car than the asking price which he would deal to a serious buyer.

    Good Luck!

  7. I came across an ad in the Classics, Hot Rods & Racing mag.

They have a '69 vert with 2 tops.... in mint condition top & bottom.

L88 motor, trans. and rear end, frame off restoration & etc.

It does not have the correct paperwork to show that the L88 motor is the original.....otherwise it's near perfection. Mileage approx. 70k.

The color is a metallic burgundy 2003 50th Anniv.

He knows of a shipper who deals with him all the time.

Asking $60k but will deal. He did have an offer for the engine at 30k.

If your interested....PM me I will give you his phone number.

The guy is very well known and he does know the people at Corvette Conspiracy in Cleveland, Ohio who are the #1 guys that work on Corvettes.

His location is about an hour and half from my house.

    Painesville, Ohio

  8. Over the next couple of weeks, I plan to strip the Americana Wax, touch up a couple of very small stone chips then seal, glaze and wax.

Looking forward to seeing the difference a base of sealant will make to the depth of shine on this bad boy. Have a car show to compete in on 3rd March and will post a couple of photos that should show an improvement over an already beautiful shine.

    Cool Vette! :)

Share some pics of your car show in March. Good Luck!
