  1. Today I woke up and it was one of those "oh screw it" days. So I took my first day off in a year when it was 5:30, windy, and rainy.

I get up around 9 later and it is the most beautiful day we have had all year. 70 with a slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky.

I got up, ran some errands, then I re-plastidipped my winter wheels while I cleaned my engine bay and vacuumed the interior.

Then I studied for my test which I finished first and feel pretty confident about.

Now it is off to have some beers to celebrate my friend passing his year long probationary period at his fire station.

And also to get my broke friend obliterated because he just list his job and took midterms just like I did.

Cab's on me folks, don't worry.

  2. Man at the hospital I worked for (before I had my Cooper - a black lab/pitbull mix), they offered pet insurance for $2 a month! It was foolish not to get it if you had a pet.

Nowadays it's all going to be out of pocket for me. He's had his shots, been neutered, and he goes for a routine checkup every 8 months or so. If you can take your dog to the vet every so often, insurance isn't worth it for them.

  3. From a black car to a lighter colored car, was it the most amazing feeling in the world?

Going from my big and black charger to my small and tangerine focus is going to be one of the happiest days of my life. Not only because it's going to be one hell of a car, but it's going to be so much easier to maintain.

    :help:

  4. $400,000 would literally last me 4 years at my current spend so I don't consider that "wealth". I don't think anyone can really call themselves "independently wealthy" unless they have millions of dollars, but then again it's all relative. If you can live on 30g's a year and have 2 million bucks, that will last you what? 66 years?

What the OP was making a point of is that he is living off the interest accumulating off of the $400,000.

Even $2 million at 1% would still be 20k

  5. I remember talking about this at work. Most people said they wouldn't keep a job. Me? I'd keep working like nothing changed. I remember when I took a week off from work last finals week. Even during the cramming and late night studying I was going out of my ****ing mind! It's so boring not having something to do every day. Not only that, but I like the empowerment that comes with doing my job.

  6. I had a talk like this with a buddy of mine last night (23 years old). He wants to save all his money, buy a house in the suburbs and that's it. That's what he wants to do for the rest of his life. He's a firefighter so he won't be switching jobs, more than likely not switching cities, and won't be doing any traveling except for where he goes on vacation.

He said I was stupid for wanting to live in the city and pay rent prices down there. I told him that when he's 35-40+ he's going to regret every minute of not living his life, rather living the safest way possible (ironic because he's a firefighter).

He laughed, said I had no concept of money, and that I was lighting money on fire. Worst of all, he's moving to a city where it's 70% retirees and there are a handful of nightlife spots -.-
