  1. Yep...oil is part of it. If the truck has MDS then you have to run 5W20 in it.....thin as vegetable oil.....my car has a 6 spd manual so we upped it to 5W30....reduced the noise some, but it is still obnoxious....I had no idea about the potential problem and really wish someone would have told me....hope you love your truck....just trying to give you the warning/heads up I wish someone would have given me.

I've heard about the "tick" and I'll worry about that if it rears up. Some guys swear certain oil exasperates it. I keep vehicles around three years normally so longevity isn't a concern. ;)

  2. Don't know if you're aware of it or not but a good portion of the HEMI engines tick like crazy. My Challenger sounds like a sewing machine and it's driving me bonkers!!! Take a nice long test drive in your new truck when it comes in to see if it has the problem......there's no known fix for it and the dealers will try to tell you it is normal. If I'd known about the problem and wasn't extremely stoked to be getting the new car I would have waited and found another with a quieter engine. Hope yours is OK!!!

Which is the MAIN reason I don't feel too bad getting the new A8 transmission!!! It's designed by ZF and is also used in vehicles like Rolls Royce.

I hear you though! I NEVER thought I'd buy another one, but I try to let things go and hope for the best. GM and Ford are not without their issues too! Like the 2-3 flare my 6L80E has in the G8.

Honestly, it was a known fact that Chrysler had the WORST auto transmissions in that era. I bought my F150 4x4 in late '97 as a '98 and one of the main reasons I didn't even look at Chrysler was because of their trans issues. 60,000 or so miles and BAM they'd go out.

The 395hp 407lbft 5.7L V8 they use today has never been classified as "sluggish."

Mines a white CC Sport. Can't wait!!!! :)

  3. There is absolutely no way that I would pay new price for a vehicle that's had body/paint work done on it. Find another truck, give them the option if you wish, or find another dealer. Do not accept that truck.

  4. I have no idea what the new, standard mirrors cost but I went the opposite direction on my 2003 Ram 1500.....very easy to swap out yourself if you can get a good enough deal on the truck. Pop off the door panels and they're only held on with 3 nuts...the studs are made into the mirror itself...plug in the wiring harness and reinstall....less than an hours worth of work and you have the mirrors that you like

  5. I just love it when things are stated as absolutes......everyone lives by their own set of "truths" it seems and here are some of mine:

    1. The PC is the recommended tool for beginners, which I was.

1a. I feel that people are misled into believing that the PC can accomplish more than reality shows with Adams abrasives in a timely manor.

    2. It, the PC, is inadequate to correct more than minor swirls in a timely fashion when using Adams abrasives. Yes it can probably be done...not arguing that point at all, but I need to detail my vehicles in a weekend and not a month.

    3. The flex is a wonderful tool, I assume, and is capable of much better/faster correction due to it's forced rotation. Had I been steered this way I would have probably purchased one.

    4. The PC can correct any defect that a flex can given the right combination of products in nearly the same amount of time that the PC/Adams combination can.

    5. Care car includes correcting more severe swirls/scratches if your car isn't a garage queen. I buy my vehicles to drive, not look at and play with, and whether I like it or not such damage occurs.

There are so many sides to this conversation , this will never end.

I will start with simple facts.

    Pc is a great tool.

Flex is faster, easier to handle and more efficient compared to the pc.

If you have a pc and think all should be accomplished by it, then you have a lot of practice ahead of you.

The current Adams line is not set up for body shop style polishing. It's for care care.

I am all for something more aggressive. And I know whenever Adams releases something to this nature, it will be amazing and beyond the competition's product.

  6. He's not alone. I found that the swirls on my wife's suburban laughed at Severe Swirl and Haze remover/Green pad/PC......I switched to another well known combination and had the whole truck knocked out in a weekend. I honestly haven't taken the Adams stuff out of the cabinet since. The flex might be the cats meow, but the PC was recommended for a beginner, which I am, so that's what I bought...turns out it was a bad choice so I adapted and got the job done. It's been hinted that there are other products in the works that will blow this well known combo away.....show us and prove it please. I really like most of the stuff I purchased, but no pun intended...the abrasives just don't cut it.

  7. I've ran 33's (28570R17) on my 2006 2500 4x4 since new and they don't rub anywhere...not even close really. Don't think that they've changed the main build of the truck since then, only the cosmetics so you should be fine.

Nice color choice too......mine is the same, but doesn't have the nice fender flares that yours does.

Dylan: I may have missed a post or three on the forum pertaining to your new Chevy. You mentioned something about putting bigger wheels/tires on it.

Have you done that yet and if so, what size? I'm thinking about going with a 32 or 33 but was told if I go with a 33 I'd have to put a leveling kit on, which I plan on doing anyway. Don't see what different an inch would make but hey, I just drive 'um.

    Many Tks

  8. My green one disintegrated the first time that I used it. Contacted Lynn on the live chat and was informed that it was user error....the other pads didn't have a problem. I just considered it a lesson learned and moved on.

The same thing happened to me with only one of my pads (the white one) and a very nice local dealer happened to replace it for free for me. Maybe someone can help you out.
  9. Thanks for the help everyone. I added the zip ties to both my grit guards and that seems to have been a big help. I'm still getting some dirt particles clinging to the smaller pad that I use for the lower portion of the car/truck but it is manageable. The large pad, once I got it clean, stayed that way for the entire vehicle.

  10. Please let me know if you're able to do this....I know another PC that will be on a nice ride back to the Adams plant......I was one of the ones that PM'ed you to try something more aggressive since I had a similar experience with the PC and SSHR....the swirls/scratches on my wifes Burgandy Suburban just laughed at it!! I switched over to Mequiars 105/205 and with a single section pass of each I was able to achieve a near flawless finish and this is on a 2006 model that is a daily driver. So either Adams products require the Flex or a lot more patience and time than I have to achieve the results I was after.

  11. No, I didn't. This is during the wash process....I seem to run out of hands!! The grit guards spin around in the bottom of the bucket so I have to hold it with one hand and try to scrub the wash mitts against the guard with the other....when I pull them out of the rinse water there is still pieces of dirt trapped in the fibers. They come clean when I scrub them after I'm finished washing the car/truck.

  12. I recently purchased both the large and small wash mitts and even after scrubbing the face of them on the grit guards in the clean water bucket I'm finding that I have to hand pick little pieces of dirt, grit, junk from them both. This can't be good for my paint!! Any one else out there seeing this problem?

    Thanks for any help

  13. Yep. My bad. It's a 2010. Great shape for a 2010 huh.

It looks really nice. My 2011 is also black and is an orange peeled mess :( Worst paint job I've ever had on a vehicle and Dodge says, "Oh well". I'm still debating whether or not to have another coat or 2 of clear shot on it so I can level it all out.

  14. It should. Very dried out plastics can take several applications before they are 'rehydrated'. They also can absorb at different rates, just to make it a little more fun!

I'll glob on another coat today and see what happens. The tires held up fine but all the other trim/door handles dried into a mess....hope this works.

    Thanks

  15. watch the videos and just get the Flex. The first time I tried the PC on my wife's suburban the swirls and scratches just laughed at it....had to go to a much more aggressive product to get any results at all. If you plan on using Adams polishes and don't have an eternity to finish up a project that has hard clear coat just get the Flex now and save yourself the wasted money of having to upgrade later on.
