Huge day today in our quest to go back to the Moon and onto Mars.  Crazy to think that thing burns 11,000 pounds of fuel per second.

A little bit about what it takes to get to Mars.

Pure power & awesomeness!

Speed and timing are always a factor. Timing depends where the orbits of Earth and Mars line up when they choose a mission date. Knowing that we need to maintain speeds of or over 60k shouldn't be impossible ..we hurdled bigger obstacles just getting to the moon.

Dates for Spacefest VIII have been confirmed.  It is an amazing opportunity to see, meet, and listen to stories told first hand from those that paved the way for the space program in one location.

Picture above is my group photo from Spacefest VII.  Had the amazing opportunity to meet astronauts that had opportunity to walk on the moon, and met Jim Lovell and Fred Haise from Apollo XIII.

Your pick for who you get to sit with for lunch and dinner is based off of how soon you buy your ticket.

Most know Fred Haise as one of the three astronauts on Apollo 13.  He was also the first astronaut to land the space shuttle.  He was Commander of 3 of 5 of the approach and landing test of the shuttle Enterprise.

Snapped the picture below while at Spacefest last year.  Waiting to get into the luncheon and Alan Bean (4th man to walk on the moon) and Fred Haise ran into each other right in front of my brother and I.

Anybody that is interested in donating to the Infinity Science Center, link below.  Proceeds will go to helping preserve the first stage of Apollo 19.
