LFairbanks
On this day in 1969. I wasn't born yet. Look forward to when or if we go back. Would really be fascinated to watch man make a trip to Mars.

LFairbanks
May try to swing this in June. Surprisingly enough the wife is more than ok with letting me attend, and mentioned it as being a once in a lifetime opportunity. And she was even interested in possibly going. Looks like a lot of fun. https://www.spacefest.info TheWolf and Mongosg8

I was just telling this story to my wife. I was a Jr in High School and my girlfriend and I only had morning class. We decided to leave and walked to my house from school ..only about 1.5 miles through some side roads and trails. Anyway we get to my house so we put on the TV. She knew I was into Space and NASA etc. So we were excited to watch the launch from the comfort of home. ..Well we all knows what happened after the launch and my girlfriend and I were in tears. I Called my mother at work hysterical to tell her. I ended up getting yelled at ..1st for not being in school and 2nd for having my girlfriend over ..alone. Only than did she realize what happened after her coworker told her it blew up ..well she felt bad she gotten mad. LFairbanks

LFairbanks
I have read that there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on earth. Hard to imagine something like that. Some may not know this, but our own sun is a star. http://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2016/hubble-looks-into-a-cosmic-kaleidoscope Below is a link to one of the more interesting things I have posted in this thread. http://apollo17.org/?t=118:51:19 rkj4243 and Mongosg8
LFairbanks
Ever wonder what it is like on the ISS? Here is a really good video showing what life up there is like. I wouldn't think twice if was given the opportunity to spend some time up there. This video is interesting to watch too. You may even see the city you live in, if you watch. Some may not know, but the ISS is moving along at a rate of 5 miles per second. Mongosg8

LFairbanks
Excited to see this go in 2018. It apparently will be sent out several thousand miles beyond the moon over the course of about 3 weeks. Moon sits about 250K miles from Earth. A typical space shuttle mission lasted about 2 weeks, and would orbit about 250 miles up. An average trip to Mars takes 7 months. The average distance from Earth to Mars is 140 million miles. http://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/orion-crew-module-for-exploration-mission-1-lifted-to-test-stand
