LarryR
I'm a part time musician (drummer) and recently I discovered that a brass snare that I have has developed some minor corrosion from condensation within the drum. Trying to figure out the best way to address the existing corrosion and how to prevent it in the future.
Doug123
I would suggest getting it cleaned up at a music store that restores brass band instruments. They should get it back in shape and coat it with a clear sealant, as they do on brass horns. Then you might get/make a cloth bag and put some silica gel ( or other dessicant) into the bag to help keep it dry. I would put a dessicant bag in the case where it is stored. I am surprised to hear of this much moisture in a snare. LarryR
LarryR
Thanks Doug! I'm thinking the moisture build up is a result of storing it in an SKB snare case. While they are obviously not air tight there really aren't any ventilation holes in these cases either. Off to find some desiccant!
