Correcting A Small Imperfection

I was doing a Rinseless Wash wipe down after returning from a cruise and noticed a scuff/scratch in the clear coat on the hood. It's about 1/2" wide and 4" long. The rest of the paint is still great and does not need an entire correction. I suspect a dead bug got under my blue towel.

 

I was going to order some focus pads and the drill adaptor since there is a spring sale. Would a focus pad be better to correct small issues like this?

I would agree, but my advice would be check the rest of the car in really good lighting. And clay before you do any sort of correction. Parts of that bug could still be there. Hidden away.

Yes,  the 4" focus pads were designed for situations like this where you need to concentrate your correction power on a small area. Just remember that the drill will mimic the actions of a rotary buffer, so keep the pad moving to avoid heat buildup.

Definitely.  Use them all the time for that type of situation.  I attach them to my PC to avoid heat buildup.

Thanks guys.  Placed my order today for a few things including some Focus stuff.  

 

June through September is too hot here to cruise.  At the very least, I'll do a full strip and polish then.
