Oh awesome, thanks for that tip. I will grab one of those testers later on to be sure

This is a serious detailing tool......it blows warm filtered air, you can dry your car in no time.
If you are serious about detailing this tool is for you! Mine is about 8 yrs. old and still work great.
I am actually wondering if it would help me in another way, I have Muscular Dystrophy and detailing my car is a real pain. Hurts and body is exhausted usually after wheels ha. But I love doing it, go figure
So I am always looking for things to take the manual part out of it and save me some energy and pain. This seems like would help?

Yeah that makes perfect sense, I like the safety idea ha.
I have no idea if my garage is protected though...

Couple of questions, looking at the new video, the process seems to have changed from hose/APC/brush, to hose->APC->pad wash.
Is that a better method?
Where does engine bay cleaning fit into the process, before tires/wheels? After wheels but before two-bucket wash?
Should it be dressed with VRT on foam block after washing?
Finally, attached pics of my engine bay and hood, is there any danger here? Do I need to cover anything before going to town?
2013 BMW 335
Thanks!

Some things in the works that would sort of fill this need... not exactly, but close.
Ah, exciting yet cryptic, well done
Any kind of eta?

What is GFCI?
Is the one mentioned above a good one to grab?
Thanks!

I have one of the old posters, which is rad, but wondering if you ever plan on updating them with the newer products etc?
Also had a thought that would be cool, helpful at least to me, is a product use poster. Something like, picture of product, picture of applicator, recommend use case, so;
Glass cleaner - Green (blue?) glass towel - Clean glass and nav screens
Super VRT - Foam Block - Dress trim and tires
May sound stupid, but I was about to make a rudimentary one to hang up for my housemates to see and follow so they don't use double soft towels to dry with and glass towels for total interior cleaning, etc.
May be helpful for others as well.
Just a thought, thanks!

Perfect, thank you all for the rundown!

Awesome, thank you!

I swear I saw at one point you had a quality extension cord, is that still around somewhere? If not, can you recommend a good one to get?
Thanks!

I see several products for interior, but not sure what to use where! The Total Interior Cleaner I saw in the video was used on leather as well as dash and door panels (vinyl/plastic?) But there is also the leather cleaner? Which one is better for what scenario?
Does leather interior cleaner work on panels as well? Can it clean nav screens etc or is that just the total interior cleaner?
Thanks.

Really want to get one of these, but struggling thinking of $400 lol. Is it really that helpful? I always thought it would just blow water around, but it dries as well eh? Do you still need to go over vehicle with a towel after?

How do I always miss out on the mystery boxes
Is there any going on right now? Where do I find out about the sales?!
-
Yep. Life lessons can blow. Oh well I suppose, live and learn.
Baron are you local? You have gone to immaculate reflection before?

Again no offense, but next time don't go to the dealership. I can't even trust them to change my oil right, let alone give my car a detail.
Find a reputable detailer in your area if you need help because of your dystrophy, ask them specifically what products they will be using. Good dealers don't use silicone based dressings on your interior, and make sure your car is done right, to your satisfaction, after pickup.
A good detailer will also have a conversation with you about what you would like out of their service, given the amount you are paying. Some customers want a flawless decontaminated surface that is then protected with a high quality sealant, and do not wish for machine polishing or paint correcting prior to that. Some customers have sensitive noses and do not want highly fragrant products used on the interior, etc.
See where I'm getting at? It may have been a BMW dealership who hosted the service for you, but in the end, you got yourself a basic automatic car washes "buff and shine super detail special" with an added 25-30% cost because the shop has a roundel on the front of it.
Best of luck but at this point based on his response I think he isn't going to do anything further to help.
No offense at all, thank you though. Yeah I do not see them being helpful at all, they got my money and that is all. My bad I suppose for thinking they had high standards.
I called Jeff at Immaculate Reflections linked above, said it is quite common sadly for dealers to cut corners on details like that... Too bad he is booked out for over a month though. :/
Dissect the detail. Every nook and cranny should be clean, no wax or polish residue anywhere, swirls should be gone (strip a small area very carefully with IPA and inspect in the sun), trim and rubber should be conditioned, the paint should bead and sheet water (show evidence of LSP). If you can't check off all those boxes, then demand a refund or a redo.
I fear I should have done this before I took it home, I was in a hurry and did not give it a thorough look. It would not pass this test, I do not think they did anything to outer trim even...

Thanks all,
I shot an email to the guy I had worked with asking if there was a checklist they work off of, and if it was possible my car was given a "lesser" detail by mistake as I tested and was not convinced it was clayed. Not sure about his response,
"No sir, your vehicle was clayed, polished, waxed, machine washed the interior, leather treated, clean engine compartment, clean windows and wheels, and dressed the tires.
If you think they missed an area please swing by so we can take care of itThanks"Though I can say they treated the interior, though certainly not with anything Adam's quality, as I have to wash my hands after driving it -
Well damn. Now I'm pretty bummed out. It almost seems like they just did engine bay, interior including carpets and cleaning exterior. Not a brilliant job I was expecting.
Do I even both trying to go back?
Anyone know of someone near east Bay Area in
Cali that is awesome?
Thanks you all for your input.

Also curious, how long would all that listed take? They seemed to be done with my car kinda quick
-
It was the "Ultimate Detail" by BMW Collision Center here in Concord, CA.
Should include,
Ultimate Spa Detail – $399.00• Exterior wash• Clay treatment to remove impurities from paint• Machine Polish• Double layer of wax• Vacuum and shampoo interior, carpets and mats• Clean all leather and apply conditioner• Detail rims and dress tires• Polish all chrome and moldings• Clean all windows and mirrors• Detail interiorTaken from here, http://www.bmwconcord.com/service-parts/ on the tab "spa services"And no, I did not see a detailed steps listed -
Just got my car back from a $400 "ultimate" detail that supposedly included claying, waxing and all that jazz. I was curious when I got home so grabbed a baggy for the hand and ran hand over various parts, still feels gritty... Is that a sign they did not clay it? Is that test reliable??
-
Gotcha, glad I asked. Thank you much!
-
So my car is at BMW collision center right now getting deep detail with clay bar as because of my muscular dystrophy I am not strong enough to do it So I know it will come back waxed, not sure if they seal over it... Wondering if I can use quick sealant over whatever they may put on it? Is there something I should ask or would it matter?
Thank you.

I searched a bit and saw you have been to some in the past, wondering if you have any coming up? I ask because there is one near me at end of March

Wondering if it would be OK if I made a web app that featured your products? With attribution of course. I have an idea that may only be helpful for me, but maybe others would like/use it
