  1. I’m very skeptical on a sprayable coating.  Everyone uses the “coating” label like Hydrosilex, Shine Armor, etc. when they are silica based sealants.  This picture of the paint shows it’s an actual coating of sorts, but how this levels and how long it has to sit is the thing that makes me wonder.  Then there’s the longevity and self cleaning aspect as mentioned by the people above.  It’s just it’s interesting timing with all “coating” hype going on currently.  I am happy if they are pushing to the next level with advancements in science.  Better than T-shirt’s and air fresheners.

  2. I also have the Rupes 15mm Mark II, and I'm obsessed.  Simple as that.  The weight, grip, the speed in which it corrects with Adam's pad's and polishes is impressive if you know what your'e doing.  That being said, if you're only going to be using this as a light hobby, i'd without a doubt seriously consider the Swirl Killer.  5-6 times tops a year will net you great results from the Swirl Killer.  If its something that turns almost into a side job (like me), then a Rupes Mark II is king.  You also have to consider buying the correct polishes and pads for the job.  Each vehicle will require something different.  Adams doesn't sell crap, so the Swirl Killer and the new Mini are going to be great options to get your foot in the door, and to do what we love to do, detail.

  3. The new white/blue microfiber pad is much thinner than the older black faced microfiber pad with the orange foam. I find this new white faced pad to have much more "bite" being so much thinner. I also found during beta testing the Swirl Killer Mini, I could quickly overheat the orange foam between the backing plate and black microfiber face and melt it. I've not done that yet with this new microfiber pad.

Oh, and don't run this little machine on high speed 6 for any length of time. I found it to work well on speed 4, only needing to crank it up to 5 or 6 to correct specific scratches or defects.

Denver, PA?  jeeze, you live like 10 mins from me haha.

  4. I had the same thing happen to mine too, but it was because I was tinkering with other Adams last step applications over top of the paint sealant.  As a result, it changed the characteristics of the beading and how it comes off.  Still looks clean and shiny though, which is all I care about.

  5. I corrected and sealed my WRX in November with Paint Sealant applied by the Rupes, and have had no issues.  I do the same thing every season.  I did try the Ceramic Boost towards the end of December after Waterless  Wash out of curiosity, even though I figured they'd clash.  Either way it beads really well, and has been holding up through the winter so far.
