If they bake the paint, my body shop tells people to wait a few weeks. Unbaked paint and you’ll want to wait 90 days or more.

I'm not really sure of the process. I went to the only certified BMW/Mercedes paint shop local to me. From drop off to pick up (including paint match) it only took 2 or 3 days.

im planning on getting some parts painted over this winter so this is good to know. Never thought of having to let the paint settle for a while.

I got it done several months in advance incase there were time concerns getting it done on time,  and incase paint needed to cure. They offered to put the parts on immediately tho, so i don't think they parts need to sit, but rather be on the safe side.

  3. As far as I'm aware they're good out of the package. I too recently just got my polisher and pads and had no issues. I just do what they do in the video's (a few dots of polish, and a hit of detail spray) and didn't have much dust. A shot of detail spray goes a long way, and you don't need as much polish as you may think.

I think as long as your working on a smooth (clay bared) surface, and use a shot of detail spray you should be all good.

  4. Hi Troy, looks like pretty impressive results there!

Did you contact us about the incorrect pad size? If not, please send us an email to orders@adamspolishes.com explaining the issue and we can get that taken care of for you as quickly as possible.

A 6" pad should still work with your Porter Cable, but it will have more pad overhang over the backing plate.

    Thanks!

It was sent from the Canadian Site and I got it sorted out, the issue was the 5.5" pads don't work with a 6" plate so I had to improvise.

  5. Hello,

today I tried fixing up some paint on my girlfriends car with my new PC 7424xp. It was only my second time using it and I'm decently happy with the results, but I know the could be better. I used as mentioned m,y new PC, I had to use the stock pad it comes with because i was accidentally sent the 6" pad instead of the 5", and Adam's Correcting Polish. Firstly I started it with some waterless wash because it was just the top of the trunk, followed by a Clay Bar.

    Before once cleaned:

Then the fun began experimenting with the Polisher. The first thing I noticed is there was a lot of deep scratches. Majority I could feel with my nail and knew I would be unsuccessful to get them out without wet sanding or repainting. Because I couldn't use my 5.5" orange pad or microfibre cutting padding, I could only use the Correcting Polish and the stock pad. Once my order arrived with the new stuff I need I'll probably try again but for now I am satisfied. All feedback is appreciated and welcomed!

  6. Im not an expert, but my guess would be there could be a lot of iron deposits in the clear coat because its old, so claying would help. Another guess would be if this is the original clear-coat from 92, if not taken car of the full life span, the more aggressive cutting pad, and polishes/compounds could be breaking down the clear coat and releasing a lot of trapped contaminants?

  7. In my experience with powder coating (10+yrs). The more you can avoid touching them the better. A light polish and LPS would work well. If you are willing to invest the money and time Adam's wheel coating is a better alternative.

Thanks! I never considered the coating, just because I had the LPS on hand.

  8. Hello all,

Ive been regularly checking and reading forums on here but I decided it was time to do my first post.

A couple months ago I got my summer Rims/Wheels powder coated a gloss black. The main thing I have noticed is if you touch them at all it shows every detail/mark of your fingerprints, etc.

As a solution I was wondering if applying LPS with a utility towel would suffice to help keep everything clean, and offer a bit of protection?

    Thanks in advance!
