If you got a dirty loaner car, could you resist not detailing it?
Whitlock replied to DaytonaJae's topic in Lounge
We detailed an Enterprise rental we got for a customer once. It was filthy and we couldn't let them cruise around in that! -
Lets talk business management
Whitlock replied to infinitone's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Will give carwashy.com a look. To remind customers I use HighriseHQ to call on confirm appointments. Whenever I do a deal, I promote it through my email list first, then Facebook with a landing page set up to capture contact information. Be very careful with coupon sites, it cuts down on your margins SIGNIFICANTLY. That being said, I ran a promotion with Gilt City (best %'s of all sites I explored) here in Atlanta and build specific high-end packages for the campaign and made sure to keep a keen eye on my margin for each package. Sold a handful and saw a nice jump in website traffic on launch day. -

Fabric guard/protectant recommendation?
Whitlock replied to Garsnow's question in Interior Cleaning & Care
I use Gtechniq's Fabric Guard, we've been very happy using it. I also hear good things about Ceramic Pro's and will by trying it shortly. -

To get the photo above the photographer used a boom and then photoshopped it out. From very talented photographer Alex Bellus: DSC_1885 by por550dean, on Flickr rawAZB_9093_1 by por550dean, on Flickr http://alexbellusphoto.com

In our experience, the more hydrophobic a coating is, the shorter time-frame it lasts. Never-wet is super-hydrophobic but has a very short life-span. On vehicles, we use a hydrophobic material that has lasted a little over a year with its repellant properties. Our base coating, will protect paint for many years but is not as hydrophobic as the top later. So as for now, it is a trade off between time and "hydrophobic-ness" of the coating.

Favorite Non-Detailing Tool Used For Detailing
Whitlock replied to boilers38's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
I've been using those wooden paint stirrers from Lowe's wrapped in a microfiber towel to get to really super hard to reach areas. Been working great! -
Adam's Paint Correcting Polish & Paint Finishing Polish on microfiber pads on this G35. Great customer and huge Adam's fan!

Such a great looking car! Was lucky enough to see it at Pebble Beach last year.
-
Who is the Adam's dealer in Hawaii? Recently had to ship out there and it was pretty expensive from ATL.

Crazy busy here in Atlanta but here is a quick 50/50 of a correction the guys are working on right now:

A Little Metal Polish on a lot of Bugatti!
Whitlock replied to Whitlock's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Thanks for all of the props guys! And thanks to Adam's for making such an amazing metal polish. It killed what the owner wanted us to use in shine and ease of use. -
A Little Metal Polish on a lot of Bugatti!
Whitlock replied to Whitlock's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Not 100% sure but I believe so. High Mountain Classics in CO does the restoration work and track support for the cars. They have everything in their shop to re-create any broken or missing parts during restoration as most parts are now unobtanium. -

A Little Metal Polish on a lot of Bugatti!
Whitlock posted a question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
We get a lot of very interesting cars through our shop but nothing tops this past week. Rob and I spent 5 days in Palm Beach detailing 5 pre-War Bugatti Grand Prix cars for the Cavallino Classic. They ranged from a 1925 Type 35C to a 1936 Type 57SC and all of the cars were on track for two days and then headed over to two concours to be displayed. One car in particular required most of our intention, the bare aluminium Type 37. We went through quite a bit Adam's Metal Polish to keep the car shining all week as we battled the oxidation from the salt in the air. This first pic shows just how well Adam's worked on the 80 year old metal. All of these pics are my pics from the track days at Palm Beach International Raceway. A photographer grabbed lots of shots while at the Concours so I'll throw them up when he gets them to me. Enjoy the pics and thanks for checking these beautiful works of art out! -
