  1. Morning friends.

I write this post in a bit of a rut mentally.  My transmission is officially toast in the TBSS, and it will be some time before I get it repaired.  I am not rebuilding this for the track nor am I replacing stock for stock.  There is a big decision to be made by me within 36 hours so that the ball can be rolling and my truck can get put back together.

I had to limp home from what's normally a 15 minute drive on the way home from Good Guys on Friday, 1/4 mile at a time, at 25 mph, in "2", shut it off for two minutes, and then rinse and repeat for the next 90 minutes until I was home.  Thank God my Dad was around to help herd me to where I needed to go.  The joys of having this towed, being as low as I am...I am really looking forward to that mess too.

    Mook

Hate to hear that man...I am saving my pennies for when mine dies. It's not if but when unfortunately.

Would you care to share the year/miles and awd/2wd? Just curious as it seems AWD's last between 70-90k miles and mine is at 68 and change :(

  2. Man you guys are picky, that thing is beast...

Thats what I am saying! GM done a great job on this. They brought a lot of what they learned from the Z06/ZR1 and C6.R into this car which is really cool to see.

Who would have though 5 years ago you would see a CAMARO with 500hp, dry sump oiling, no AC and carbon brakes for sale at the dealer! Not me.

  3. I really dont think they will be that much. Im saying 42-46K for a fully loaded one.

BTW they just released the pictures of the new Holden Ute and Sportwagen. I hope they bring those to the US one day.

I was including taxes since I look at the price out the door but yea, it could be cheaper. Got to remember, though, it is getting the magnetic ride from the ZL1 so thats a big money option as well as the latest GM tech toys inside. It's also limited production, halo sedan which means premium just "because".

The GXP was what, low/mid 40's 3 years ago?

  4. Some race teams doing the Harlem Shake lol

  5. Ive decided against the TBSS just because of the fact I love my trucks and Ive had my fun in the past but now I just need a nice reliable vehicle and a AWD 400HP SUV is not it lol though it would be loads of fun im looking for more practical but still satisfying my power thirst and looks I require.

They are no less reliable than any other good quality vehicle. The trans failure stuff is mostly overblown. They don't die with any greater frequency than any other GM 4LXX trans. The engine oil deal is if you go to the track and cut some crazy fast 60' times.

Mileage is like any other truck of the size but taking 93 does make them a little more expensive to own. It's worth it lol

Remember, there is the "internet" and there is reality...;)

  6. I have an 06 TBSS AWD and LOVE it. They have their quirks but are great trucks overall. I drive mine everyday, has about 65k on it right now. I bought it in 2010 with 27k on it for 18,900. It's a base truck, no leather or Bose, just a sunroof.

I think what they are asking is high...I would say 16,500 is much more reasonable but these things seem to be holding their value well as of late. Make sure they address whatever problems you have with it and it's fully serviced.

  7. The SS wont be unveiled until Daytona in February. Why, seeing as how the NASCAR version is already out there, I don't know..

The NAIAS is not a "car show" in the traditional sense of people bringing out hotrods and such. It is for manufacturers only. Their aren't any vendors selling at all (at least, not in the years I went).

  8. I've been sitting here watching the Barrett Jackson auction with all these beautiful cars. I believe I have some sort of disease because all I see are swirls...anyone else with me on this? I'd like to be there in the staging lanes with my Flex right now.

There were definitely some cars in need of some major work. What's funny is how 98% of the people watching think all of those cars are perfect lol

  9. The 'walmart' shopping culture/style of most people tends to ignore VALUE in favor of PRICE... and yes, those 2 terms are very much different. Price is what you pay, value is what you get for your money.

THIS! Paying a little more for a quality product which will continue to serve you YEARS after the cheap-o product has been thrown away is where real value is at. It's a lesson I have been slowly teaching my wife with each Adam's order LOL

  10. I think it's absolutely hideous. I don't like older Corvettes and it looks like I won't like new ones either. I'll stick with the C6 and ZR1 now being the only vettes I like in history.

I don't think the highest, big pappa daddy should be taking looks from the child.

The Camaro should take features of the Vette, the Vette should not be taking features of the Camaro. They are doing it backwards.

Not only that but it just looks like a child from the orgy of a Ferrari, Corvette, Viper, and Camaro. Pick your own look and stop trying to mimic others. That is what stands out.

The whole back end looks hideous. I would not drive this thing. ZR1 still best Corvette ever made hands down.

lol Tell us how you really feel

  11. I love that GM is listening to their customers with this one.

People constantly harped on the interior of the C6 (which wasn't THAT bad IMO).

They clearly listened and have stepped up the inside in a big way, plus finally addressed the seats (always the biggest issue in the C6 was the lack of a REAL sport seat with appropriate bolstering and support) all while not taking a step backwards or sacrificing anything in the performance side of things.

Whats also food for thought - this is the standard C7, not an upgrade model. So if its anything like previous generations there will be bigger badder versions on the horizon in subsequent model years. C7 Z06? C7 Z51? C7 ZR1? Oh baby!!

That's the really exciting part. This car is kind of scratching the surface as to what the C7 can be IMO. Amazingly enough, the base car is going to have near current Z06 performance.

I would love to see a twin turbo 5.5L V8 be the next Z06. Put on some bigger brakes, more carbon fiber and kick the crap out of the world lol

The Z51 is going to be the one to have though. Bigger brakes, close ration trans, more coolers, better wheels/tires and aero kit.

    Anybody need a good kidney??

  12. Not happy with the hp, but the styling on the outside is fabulous. Very modern and current. Not sure about the interior. Looks kind of boxey and C4ish around the console and the seat part of the seats. Have to see one in person for sure.

I have a feeling, 450hp is going to feel like 500+ in a current Vette. Less weight, more torque usually makes for a lot of fun.

I heard that the new LT1 makes as much torque as the LS7 at something like 3000 RPM's...Yea, should be fast lol
