  1. Sorry if this obvious but I've watched so many videos they are starting to blend together. I'm about to clay, wash and then apply paint sealant to my MINI. I did my other MINI the other day and painstakingly went around the black plastic trim and rubber gutter, etc. I noticed the areas that I think I accidentally got some on didn't seem to have that white film left when I finished. Did I just luck out or is the paint sealant not a problem on black plastic trim.

  2. While I love all the products I get from Adam's, I discovered a long time ago that I could find great, more affordable towels elsewhere. I discovered this by accident.

Many years ago there was a product called Turby Towel or something like that. It was marketed as a hair towel for women. They had 2 types at first, a plush one and a flatter waffle weave towel. I bought a few for myself and my daughter. We have used them for years as they are a smaller towel, just the right size for wrapping up hair to dry for a bit.

Eventually they became stained and I found new ones on Amazon. I retired the old ones to the car detailing cabinet and use them on the wheels, inside the doors, the exhaust tips, etc. Anywhere that I might run across black, greasy dirt that I don't want to get on my nice towel I use on the paint.

I check Amazon every now and then and when I see them for $3-5 I throw a couple in the cart.

I also use the colored ones for dog towels.

  3. Thanks all for the help.

I will be clay barring first thing. I noticed in Adam's video he states not to wipe off the residue from clay barring? Is he assuming you will then wash the car?

As this is a MINI I will be doing it all by hand, I just can't be bothered digging out the machine when I would be halfway done by the time I got all the gear together  :) .

I went ahead and got the Buttery wax as it looks like an easy product to use. Even if I don't put it on my MINI I may use it on my daughter's MINI or our Nissan Truck.

  4. I have a new car arriving in the next week or so. The color is a non-metallic called Volcanic Orange (think School Bus :D).

I'm planning on using the Paint Sealant as soon as I get the car and then just saw the video for the H20 Guard and Gloss so want to go with that. I also saw the Brilliant Glaze video but that seems like it's for car shows and such. This is my daily driver so I don't think that's a concern.

I have the Buttery Wax in my cart but I'm not sure I will need it?

Also, if I'm going to have vinyl graphics applied fairly soon after delivery should I wait and seal it after or is it better to do the sealant right away?

    Thanks!

  5. Thanks guys!

I also grabbed the interior cockpit brush as that looks like it will do the trick.

On the video Adam is treating the dash with the Leather Conditioner after he's cleaned it. The car he's cleaning is very nice and very old so I couldn't determine if the dash was actually leather.

If I want that nice clean matte look should I use that conditioner on my dash(which is decidedly not leather) as well?  I really like that it has UV 65 block as well so that alone would be useful.

  6. Ok, just a quick update.

I had a gut feeling that the haze was just like I described it, like a ring on a coffee table. I parked the MINI out in the hot Georgia summer sun for the afternoon and I have no haze left at all!!

I do, however, still have a faint outline.

I have ordered the paint polish reviving stuff and some additional products and will try that next. I have a feeling I dodged a bullet with this one and will be able to resolve it.

    Never again with the magnets!

  7. I've been watching videos endlessly for the past few days. One that really interests me is the Revive Polish one showing a 3 step hand polish process. He states in the video that there are color coded discs for applying the products but I can't find the orange pad that he uses in the first step with the Paint Correcting Polish.

Also, would love if he would hold the products so you can see which one he uses at the first step. I've watched the video 3-4 times but he never mentions the exact product name so I'm guessing based on the color of the bottle.

This is the video I'm referring to-

I do love how clear and simple he makes the instructions.

  8. I just watched the video on the Total Interior Detailer. In the video he states that this is to maintain the interior but not for heavy cleaning. I can't seem to figure out what to use on my dash. I have no leather in my interior except for the steering wheel and shift boot.

My dash board is pretty dirty due to a certain little dog putting his dirty feet there whenever he's riding shotgun.

It's a dark charcoal, textured plastic material so need some way to get into the little cracks and crevices.

I have a cart full of other stuff so want to add this to the one order.

  9. I am cleaning up my '11 MINI to sell in anticipation of my incoming '15 MINI Cooper S.

Overall the car looks nice, a few blemishes in the black plastic areas but that's about it.

Until I remembered a small magnet on the boot. It has been there so long I forgot it was a magnet.

Anyway I got it off fine but there is a ghostly image left behind. Kind of like a water ring on a coffee table. If I get it wet it disappears but as soon as it dries I can see it. It is mostly grey.

I have done a quick wash and dry of the area and it faded but was still visible.

Then I clay barred it, and it faded a bit more but not completely.

Wondering if anyone had suggestions or should I just keep clay barring it?

Oh, this is a Horizon Blue so a darker, metallic paint.

I have a cabinet of different cleaning stuff, but can order something else if I need it. Just want to do it right!

I'm posting a pic, hard to get it to show up but it is an almond shaped area centered below the license plate bracket.

  10. This is me in Chester, UK a few years ago. I went with my son's Lacrosse team on a tour. Me, 20 teenage boys and a bunch of coaches LOL. Good thing I'm one of those girls who prefers hanging out with the guys.

Once the coaching staff found out I am a beer lover, especially cask ales. It was all over, we spent every evening pub crawling.
