  1. So here I am doing a little re-organization, trying to figure out my storage situation since I never really got that 100% down right and I thought to myself.

If i can WASH the towels together, then why not store them together?

Going to be changing 1 or 2 containers to a larger size and doing some re-organizing.

One thing that bothers me is how some towels don't 100% dry on the rack and when I put them in the container, I get that condensation but at the same time I do not want to throw them in the dryer.

  2. I've noticed it occurs more when you have the windows down more often. At least that's my experience with my car and truck.

I drive with my windows down a lot but it doesn't

happen that often vs when they are closed.

Here's a trick that's worked for me. After cleaning the glass with Adam's glass cleaner and his microfiber glass cleaning towels I go back over the glass again with a single soft microfiber towel, almost buffing the glass with the single soft. If time permits I'll buff the glass with a single soft again the following day.

I know it seems like overkill and a lot of extra work, but my glass seems to stay cleaner longer if I'm able to complete the above. I'd rather do this than a weekly cleaning of the glass.

I'll try this next time I clean it . Which will probably be today.

You guys all need to stop smoking in your vehicles! :jester:

Have never smoked, not planning on it either.

No-one is permitted to smoke in any of my cars. Hell, if you JUST finish smoking i dont like it either. Want to smoke? Step away a few feet from my car and make sure the wind doesn't blow my direction.

    Yea, i'm picky.

  3. How old are the cars? On newer vehicles for at least the first year (sometimes more) the panels will continue to gas out leaving a film on the windshield, especially in high heat and sun exposure conditions.

I only have my car for about 3 months now, build date isn't that far off, April I believe, so that would make sense.

No big deal, just need to wipe it down more often.

  4. I searched a bit but the terms I've used seem to be too short to find a decent answer. I cleaned my windshield on the interior a few weeks ago and recently noticed that it has some sort of a "layer" on it, during certain temperatures, thats exactly where it fogs up so i guess ill cal it the fog layer.

Under certain angles in the sun you can also see it there. A quick wipe will actually get rid of it but I figured i'll ask, any idea as to why it happens in such a way? I guess maybe through the use of the AC on and off and having windows open?

  5. Maybe due to the other room you have them stored in being too small and the air quality suffers? I would think it depends on the product but it shouldn't smell THAT much. Of all the things that have a distinct smell I have found my new Sidekick has a smell that is kind of undescribable. That one is a new thing to me lol. I guess its just the new plastic/rubber smell? :lolsmack:

I had that sidekick smell too, it kind of just went away, and as it turns out, that room is actually BIGGER. Not to say I didn't smell it in the other room because i did.

The other room is also used to hold tools and other things, when something needs to be done at home , such as a piece of wood needs to be cut, it gets done in that room. Things might change soon though, so maybe i wont have to worry about it.

    was just curious.

  6. There is only about two places in the basement I can use to store my products, one is less prone to dust and such than the other, granted all my towels are stored in containers, but in my other room I noticed I have the "product" smell, when the bottles are left standing there. I checked to make sure that they are closed and it seems like they are.

Does anybody else have this "issue"? I mean yes, the products do smell nice but if you're sitting in a room with that constant smell, you can get a headache as it is chemicals and such.

I have something like this for the gallon sizes and the other bottles,

    4-Shelf 18 in. D x 36 in. W x 55 in. H Black Plastic Ventilated Storage Shelving Unit-17601102 at The Home Depot

while the rest of the stuff such as the buckets and the towels (in containers) are stacked next to it.

    Any ideas?

  7. Bear with me here as I DID search and I spent quite a few minutes searching but I haven't found a concrete answer, maybe I was just using the wrong terms or something.

So to hopefully help with future searches and to refer back incase I ever forget here is the creation of this topic.

I just wanted to verify that this is ok and safe to do, as I don't want to potentially screw up my towels. I did once already and now they have black/gray spots all over the place -_-

Offcourse with each group, using the proper amount of Revitalizer

Am I correct in the following:

    Wash Group 1:

Waterless Wash Waffle + Great White Drying + Glass Cleaning

    Wash Group 2:

    Utility microfibers

Exception: If there is a group of towels that are really heavily soiled, pre-treat, and wash separately?

    Wash Group 3:

Single soft and double soft towels

Does this sound about right? Anybody have their own methods?

  8. I'll use WW after a rain storm only if I didn't drive in the rain. I don't trust what comes up from the wet roads onto my paint.

I'll do a WW almost every 1-2 days after a 2 bucket wash if we don't get any summer thunderstorms coming thru all the time.

Seeing as you have a black vehicle, I think it's a good thing to go by. I did drive through the rain so you are right in terms of crap being kicked up.

Thanks for all the advice!

  9. Would you guys say it's ok to waterless wash wipe down the car the next day after a rain storm? It poured yesterday and today in the morning my car didn't look that filthy, it had some streaks and all from the rain but it wasn't horrible.

EDIT: Reading some searched threads it doesn't seem like a good idea.

I think this could essentially save me some shampoo and time overall if i do it or every or every other day.

  10. I wash about 2 times a week during the summer with waterless wash, takes about 10 to 15 minutes. During the winter I wash with the hose and bucket. Takes about 1 hour.

    I wish

the weather wasn't so crappy here that will get your car filthy after a storm requiring a full wash.

I am with Dave and Al - 1.5 to 2 hours, when needed. I use 1 oz. of Car Shampoo to 2 gallons of water. For the foam gun I keep a pre-mixed solution at 6 oz. of Shampoo to 32 oz. of water - http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/tips-tricks/16281.htm.

How exactly do you measure the oz? I'm guessing using an empty regular bottle?

Looking at what you guys are writing I think I'm using too much shampoo. Are the numbers you guys posted the total for the buckets alone or does that include foam gun too?

  11. Forgive me if this was posted somewhere else but I honestly googled, and searched around the forums for similar terms and have not found a topic dedicated specifically to the frequency of car washing, and the length of time.

This is probably because of the short words used in the search query.

    1. So how often do you find yourself washing your car?

    2. How long does it take you on average?

    3. On average how many ounces of shampoo do you end up using per wash?

    To start:

    1. I figured out that I wash just about every week so far. Whenever I wanted to wash it more than that I end up not having the time to do it.

    2. Taking into account set-up + clean up, it seems to take me about 1 hour 30 minutes, the wheels alone take out a good chunk of time. Simply washing 2 cars took me 3 hours =O

    3. It seems to me that I use anywhere between 6oz or more of shampoo alone on each wash between foam gun and bucket. I might have to cut down a bit as I'm running out of shampoo quick :willy:

Am i doing something wrong here? :help:

  12. Talking about humidity, I started washing my car at 5:45 this morning. I dried it, but before I finish drying, it already has that hazy, wet look to it. Needless to say, it never got completely dry. :(

I get that more often than I would like.

Haven't washed my car for a week or more, planning to do it tomorrow morning. Hopefully no rain or humidity

  13. Having an extra set of pads is the best plan. My question is, how did the door handle do that to the pad? wow!

The towels changing colors b/c you mixed them is not a big deal. It wont do any hard to the paint. to get those nasty stains out from the trim, try this:

1)Spray the area Liberally with APC And with a scrub brush(similar to the carpet brush) scub the stain...

2)fill up a bucket with warm water throw the towels in, and put 2 ounces of APC and 2 Ounces of MF revitalizer.

3)Spray the water and let the water suds up a bit.

If there is only WHITE TOWELS in the bucket...throw a little bleach, if not just do what I mentioned above.

4)Let them sit in the bucket for a couple days

5)wash them by hand and they should be stain free!

My towels get black like that all the time..this is what I do to wash them and they are still soft and don't cause any harm to my paint!

I will try this at a later time when I stock up on extra pads and get a few more towels.

I honestly have no idea how that happened to the pad as I wasn't even pushing it hard or anything. This is just weird =O

  14. :iagree:

The towels may come back PARTIALLY... the dye transfer from the blue towel probably wont' come out, but it'll fade over time. The dark spots from rubbing the towel on your trim... thats a maybe. I've seen MFR&B take out darker stains than that, but it comes down to what the stain actually is.

If it came from your trim theres a good chance its a combo of oxidized rubber and old dressings. That can be a stubborn combo.

But in the end it won't really affect the effectiveness of the towel correct? So i didnt destroy them...
