Horrible Scratch Problem!
ktn65 replied to F150's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Chewy nailed it. -
Chet, you want to apply the MSS directly to your freshly polished and clean paint. The sealant bonds directly to the paint. If you put it over the glaze, as the glaze comes off, so does the sealant. The same applies to the quick sealant. Apply directly to the clean paint. BG does not last long. Some here apply either Buttery or Americana Wax over the BG to make it last longer

2011 Dodge Ram Chrome Clad Wheels
ktn65 replied to 6.0DSLPWR's question in Wheels, Tires, Trim, & Undercarriage
I tried using the blue applicator with very limited success. Ultimately I ended up using an old micro-fiber towel to apply and polish with. Then used an Adam's Single soft to wipe clean. -

Does Adam's detail spray contain alcohol?
ktn65 replied to cfiiman's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
And while it is not great on eggs, it is pretty good on eggs. Detail spray in Glass Cleaner? Did not know that. My typical regime when cleaning my iPone and various laptops (including screens) is Glass Cleaner followed up by a spritz of Detail Spray. (Probably the Detail Spray more for the smell ) -
2011 Dodge Ram Chrome Clad Wheels
ktn65 replied to 6.0DSLPWR's question in Wheels, Tires, Trim, & Undercarriage
Hey Aaron, I can speak from experience. After one very mild winter, the Chrome Clad wheels on my GMC looked bad. I washed with Green Wheel Cleaner and they still looked dull. I then tried revive and the look like new again. Quick Sealant on top and they really do shine. -
suggestions on what wax to use on this color:
ktn65 replied to Diggerdan11's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Typically optional step two just automatically happens for me. And to Dan, sweet looking car. I like the color. -
Hmmm...... now that is not a bad idea. Of course I've been married for over 20 years, but for you youngsters out there, I thing Dave is on to something.

Washing microfiber towels
ktn65 replied to RickP330's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Not only that, but BEFORE and AFTER. So Mook, am I misreading this? Every time you wash your microfibers, you detail the machine TWICE? Don't let my wife see this thread! -
I love buttery. Since my vehicles are daily drivers and I don't have time to keep them perfect. (Or even get them perfect ) The limited filling properties that buttery has helps the look. Plus, it is by far my favorite smelling Adam's product.

Leather and interior cleaner sprayer
ktn65 replied to Sandalwood's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I'm fairly certain the label on the Leather and Interior Cleaner says to do just that. I only use the Leather and Interior Cleaner when the seat/interior surface is really dirty. Normally I just use the Leather and Interior Conditioner as a cleaner. -
I agree with Mark. Buttery lasts about a month on my car and truck that get driven daily, parked outside, and washed once a week. But sometimes when I need therapy, (the calming of rubbing paint ) I'll reapply it every two to three weeks.

Introducing FedEx SmartPost Shipping!
ktn65 replied to Team Adam's's topic in Company Info/Announcements
I have noticed if I use smart post to my house (residence), it is cheaper. But if I have stuff shipped to my office (business), it is the same as the regular FedEX ground. The other issue I have is the USPS service where I live is terrible. I work at home quite a bit and will always receive a "sorry we missed you" in the mail box even though I am home. Thus I have to drive down to the PO and get the package. -
Quick Sealant or Wax for protection?
ktn65 replied to watchmyback's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
The Adam's Quick Sealant Kit would meet your needs. Actually how I stumbled upon Adam's was by looking for a good/easy paint sealant or wax that I could apply by hand in any conditions (don't have too much shade where I live) At that time, AQS was not available. I started by using BCW. Now that the AQS is out, my regiment is AQS covered by buttery once a month or so. Now the great guys and gals here will give you the absolute best advice on getting your paint perfect, but you don't have to start out that way. I was already familiar with clay bars and claying automotive paint, so that was an easy step for me to add. I also use Adam's Revive Fine Hand Polish after claying and before AQS. Just be warned, every Adam's product does exactly what they say, and very well. So as you go, your ride will look better and better. It's a slippery slope, and before long, you will have a cabnet full of great Adam's products. -
FAQ - "Whats the best wax for black paint?"
ktn65 replied to Team Adam's's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Adam's has a new product coming out called Quick Sealant. Here is a post where a bunch of the people testing the product teased us with some videos of how it works. Quick Sealant Videos -
Ed (Grubrunner) I used detail spray for the first time last night as a drying agent. I too was always perplexed by how adding another product (more moisture) would help you dry the vehicle. It was pretty cool to see. The DS broke the surface tension of the water. So where there was beads of water on my hood, it all just broke down and started running off the truck. Plus I imagine the DS also helps keep the towel from doing any micro marring to the finish and adds more shine! Just my observations and thinking from one use.

So they thinned down MSS and put a pump on it??? -
That's a key point. I only check my tires in the AM when they are cool. Plus I read in a tech bulletin somewhere (from either Chrysler or GM) that to get the full benefits of the nitrogen, it has to be as close to pure as possible. So if you top a tire off from a regular compressor in a pinch, the benefits drop off quickly .

I thought BP claims their gasoline would pass the Top Tier standards but since they (BP) view it as mostly a marketing ploy (by GM and other manufactures), they opted to not have it certified or what ever. And doesn't Ford recommend BP? (at least it sez so in wikipedia ) Now just to let you all know, I am a GM kinda guy and use Exxon, a top tier brand but more because it is the easiest station for me to stop at after work. Besides, I'd never put something recommended by Ford in my GMC!!!
