  1. I went the clay and waterless wash route, it worked really well thanks. I'm going to throw the sealant on tomorrow, ran out of daylight.
  2. Curious what the best way to clean clear bra is, and if I should apply anything to it afterward to make it easier to clean the next time? I'm having a tough time getting water spots out of it, it dries so quick even in the shade here in FL that sometimes I can't get a section of car washed and air blasted before the water has already dried and left streaks.
  3. How are the jugs from a leaking standpoint? Are they safe to leave in a horizontal position on a shelf for easy use or should I keep them tipped up when not dispensing?
  4. Yep I had the air inlet punched, the spicket just seems to have two settings, drizzle or blast. I got a funnel to solve the problem but am ordering the screw on nice funnel from Adams today so I don't have to try and manipulate three things at the same time to fill the bottle.
  5. Yup lol, its my Chevy's girlfriend, they keep each other warm at night.
  6. Turns out I have a ton of the waterless wash towels; I bought them just as high quality microfiber towels for use with the detail spray and forgot those are actually the wash towels lol. About to head outside and get started.
  7. I don't have many pics with them all together but I do have a funny video Junkman took at my house when he came to teach me how to detail cars lol [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTHrTJdOicY]Haters Gonna Hate! - YouTube[/ame] Got some individual photos at: My '03 Murci - Talk Lambo! Gallery My 2012 Nissan GT-R - Talk Lambo! Gallery You should hear my wife complain about it. I told her there's a waiting list (GT-R) before she gets a spot in the garage LOL. It's only 2-car unfortunately. If we ever move I'll finally do something about it.
  8. The broken store made me miss the 13th anniversary sale cut off too.

  10. Hmm good question, I'd be surprised if I had two.... that might spoil my plans.
  11. I'm going to try waterless wash for the first time in the morning. I haven't washed my Nissan for about nine months so it of course got filthy as it's an outside car. I started working on it Saturday, got the wheels, bottom bits and finally a wash in. Took the entire day Sunday claying it because of how bad it was. Today I got polishing done but ran out of light so I couldn't get sealant on. Of course it's going to get wet tonight and collect dust and other crap and I really don't feel like going through the whole wash and dry again in the morning to waste even more time, so figured waterless sounded like a good idea to hopefully get this baby wrapped up tomorrow. Any tips on how best to use it, or things to watch out for?
  12. I own both and would not be happy if I did not have both. The garaged cars only need the most minor of polishing and the PC lets me do that worry free. My GT-R sits in the driveway and does get a decent build up of crap, but it also has absolutely horrible soft paint, so using the Flex on that also worries me and I stick to the PC out of concern I could go too far accidentally. Then I have a Chevy truck that the Flex makes light work of; it would take me a whole weekend to deal with it with the PC. I'm gonna buy a paint thickness gauge one of these days.
  13. So I've got a five gallon detailing spray jug that I cracked open (literally, had to pop holes in it with a screw driver for breathing and to knock out the nozzle fitting) for the first time today. I'm finding the nozzle nearly useless for refilling the spray bottles. If you open it a little bit, you get a drizzle, if you open it enough so that it doesn't take ten minutes to fill the bottle, the liquid seems to come spray out from the edges of the nozzle, which happens to be the same diameter as the spray bottle neck, so you end up with detail spray everywhere. Short of a funnel, which I plan to go buy tomorrow, is there a trick to easily dispense from the five gallon to the spray bottles?
  14. I had the junkman come school me on my PC and Flex, we worked on my pickup truck before even looking at the other cars. The PC takes foooooorever, which is kind of the nice thing about it if you're just starting; i.e. it's very very difficult to do damage with the PC, and even more so without realizing you're doing something wrong, which gives you plenty of time to figure things out and fix them. I still use the PC on the hard to get to areas and the more sensitive parts of the car where I'm worried the paint might be a bit thin. One of these days I'll buy the depth gauge.
  15. I'm late to the thread but I can assure you the factory didn't let the car leave looking like that. Dealer definitely screwed it up, and even then I can't believe it went out the door like that.
  16. All depends on how bad it is. My truck sits outside and it took me four days just to get the damn thing clayed; after a few years of buildup.
  17. I got around that issue by buying two of the 5-gallon jugs of detail spray during the black friday free shipping coupon thing. That should last me through summer LOL.
  18. Yes, that was covered earlier in the thread; flat rate shipping means some customers basically subsidize the others. My point was that as a business owner, flat rate shipping, free ground shipping and similar configurations can lead to dramatically higher conversions in the ecommerce world. My interest as an Adams customer is to have the company be successful, I think they would get more sales from people on the fence about trying the product line by not hitting them with a shipping charge that is probably more than they're used to paying for other things at other sites, and the more customers Adams has, the better it is for all of us thanks to economies of scale in production, warehousing and shipping.
  19. I ordered a 70 pound Rubbermaid detailing cart overnight for the extra $4; I can't imagine how much that cost them even with their discount, overnighting a package that size retail probably would have been $150 lol.
  20. Yep, I find myself buying the stupidest things with Prime because I know I can do it in two clicks, shipping is free and I'll have it in two days lol. Hmm, wonder how cold my freezer is, click click, thermometer on the way. Maybe I should clean the ice maker; ordered. My laptop is warm on the bottom; lapdesk ordered. Got all this great Adams stuff; maybe I should get a quick disconnect for the foam gun, oh, shipping is free, I'll get a quick disconnect for every thing I'll ever attach to the hose and a 100 foot hose so I can go all the way around the car lol.
  21. You would never incorporate tax into price, that makes no sense since typically you only charge tax in the state you have a physical presence in; i.e. why would you incorporate a charge that only 1/49th of your US-based customers would see? If you offer free ground shipping to the lower 48, the price is the same whether shipped or picked up; everyone's happy, no one wonders what shipping is going to be and abandons your store at checkout when they see a shipping price they don't like. The only time this doesn't work well is when you're selling a product that has very heavy competition in online stores; then you run into the issue of people just picking the cheapest site, not realizing that they're going to pay $4 more in shipping at the site where the product was only $2 cheaper, resulting in a net loss for them. If you're selling something of that nature, then lowest advertised price is a valid concern. Amazon Prime has nothing to do with where a product is made; if the company in question uses Amazon for fulfillment, they warehouse their goods with Amazon and leverage Amazon's infrastructure and shipping discounts and you get your product in two days for free, made in the US, made in China or made in wherever. My first Adams order was actually through Amazon, albeit not Prime, so I still paid shipping. I only started using the direct website after that first order since I prefer to cut out any middleman if I'm going to be buying repeatedly from a particular company, then they get the most of what I pay them. I can say with 100% confidence that since signing up for Prime, I have made more impulse buys, including some I would have probably not gone through with had there been a $5 or $10 shipping fee. For a business, that's great; you're selling things to people who may have an impulse or are on the fence by simply making the purchase incredibly easy and not hitting them with shipping charges that might turn them away.
  22. New body looks like a copy of a Panamera. I'm jaded against Tesla though; have two different friends that worked in sales there for a time, different dealerships, and it was not a pleasant work environment.
  23. Personally, as someone who runs a few online businesses, I'd prefer to see the shipping costs built into the price of the items. You eat a bit of shipping on some orders, come out ahead on some others. Yes, I realize that's not 'fair' to the customers who end up subsidizing the shipping of some of the others, but I think it's better from a gaining new customers perspective and has worked for me pretty well in that regard. I've experimented a lot with shipping and "free ground shipping" or something similar has always resulted in better conversions, as shown by A/B testing that tracks customers from arrival to conversion on the invoice page. Charge for shipping, even the base option, there is higher abandonment on the shipping fees page, even if the subtotal of higher product price versus lower price + shipping ended up being the same. In this day of Amazon Prime and two day shipping on everything for free, people are a bit spoiled. If it were not for a particular person with a ton of Youtube videos, I may have balked at the price of shipping at checkout when I was on the fence about giving Adams products a try since my first order was fairly expensive, and heavy, which meant a decent shipping fee. Now that I use them and love them, I could care less about shipping, but, at the same time, more new customers mean higher production and more shipping, higher production hopefully means lower production costs, more shipping means higher UPS/FedEx discounts, so maybe if more people were being brought into the fold by way of low to zero shipping, we'd all ultimately win in the long run; including Adams. Although after typing all that, I realized that perhaps the shipping is the way it is as a benefit to the reseller model. None of my businesses have that, so charging the same price on products but you save on shipping by going through a reseller could be a good way to grow the reseller network... Just some thoughts.
  24. I've got an '07 Chevy 2500. I only have about 45,000 miles on it but it's my daily driver. Only work I've done is wheels, much larger than factory tires (stock tires are puny) and a 2" lift to accommodate the new tires. What I'd like is one of these LOL, it's massive.
  25. The master blaster definitely wins if you can get one; I have a nice electric leaf blower and I can get the car dry in a fraction of the time with the master blaster. It's almost mandatory here in Florida because the water will dry on the car before I can get it dried on those unavoidable hot days so the faster I can work my way around the less chance of issues. Yep, once it heats up, it will blow a 15 amp breaker every time. I'm having to get a 20 amp put in my garage.
