Just wanted to add my $0.02. I have been using a towel for a while now. I love it! I haven't had any problems with marring. I use a lot of lube and very little pressure. I can decon my car (Lexus IS) in about 30 minutes. To be fair, my car is white...which is more forgiving than darker colors. But, I did use it on my friend's red Tesla and had no issues either. As with anything else...it is about technique.
As an aside, I use concentrated lubricant when I decon...it wouldn't be cost effective for me to use Adam's Detail Spray...I save the pink stuff for my last step after washing.

I think this is a great idea. However, I wouldn't want a product that last a couple of hours. From Adam's, I would expect a professional product that eliminated odors and left a pleasant scent lasting for at least a week.

Well, after spending almost $800 on Adam's products in the last 3 months, I would say I am officially addicted!
I have a few questions though on how I should be using some products, and taking care of others.
1. What is the proper procedure for washing microfiber by hand? I have no choice in my area as I am on a septic system that will not take kindly to using a microfiber cleaner.
2. Can I use a small blue microfiber applicator pad in place of a foam pad for every product? I notice the Liquid Paint Sealant suggests using only foam applicators. Is it ok to use both for every product?
3. How long is Americana wax good for in storage? It will be stored inside at room temperature.
4. What is the proper procedure for washing and cleaning the small blue microfiber applicators? Can I treat these like a foam pad and simply hit them with APC, rinse and let dry?
Thanks all!
1. I wash all my microfiber towels in the washer. Short cycle, double rinse, regular detergent, NO FABRIC SOFTENER! I use a little vinegar in place of the softener. They come out perfect every time. I got tired of hand washing
2. I only use the blue applicator for leather conditioner.
3. I have had the same can of Americana for 2 years...no problem.
4. See answer 1.

My wife has a silver Ody. Trust me...after washing, claying, polishing and waxing...you are going to be toast!! I would definitely recommend sealant over Americana. Americana is great, but you want LONG TERM protection on the van...you don't want to wax it anymore than you have to!

I have had several for 2 years now...I think they work as well as the day I got them. I don't plan to get rid of them until they tear or are NOTICEABLY rougher than new. They are really good towels. I used an absorber since the 80s and never thought I would be able to dry with a "towel." But, this is one thirsty towel!

If all businesses conducted themselves in this manner...the world would be a better place.

Not that I have heard. I know they discontinued all 36 oz bottles...I think that is why it is on sale. SVRT is great stuff.

I hope the single soft towels aren't going to be discontinued or permanently replaced by the borderless blues. I know there is been manufacturing issues, but in my personal opinion I like the single soft better then the blues and please don't give up on them. Just keep the borderless blues and keep waiting and pushing on for the single softs. I have done a comparison side by side and to me no other towel on the planet is as good as the single soft. Just my 2 cents.
I agree. I don't like the blue towels as much as I like single softs. I think the weight of the single soft is heavier (thicker) than the blue. It would be great if they could lose the border on single softs...but, they are great towels even with the border.
BTW: I don't want to start any rumors about Adam's not carrying the single softs anymore...I was only speculating!

Love your car. Seeing it takes me back to High School (class of '89). The 5 liter GT was a very popular car. Welcome to the Adam's family.
-
I personally love the single softs...but, I don't know if Adam's is going to continue to carry them. I have the blue ones too. They are nice towels...but, I like the single softs better. In general, I think Adam's towels are awesome. The Great White in particular is a spectacular towel.

So I'm new here and am somewhat of a noob to the detailing world. I always try and keep my vehicles looking good, but about two years ago I bought a black Silverado and it needs lots of help! Even after spending all day washing and waxing it, it still only looks ok.
So for Christmas I got a Harbor Freight 7" Variable Speed polisher/sander item #60626 and I was wondering if this was ok to use on my truck or if I should go trade it in for the 6 In. Variable Speed Dual Action Polisher Item#69924........???
I know harbor freight is not the best but I'm on a super low budget and don't want to dump a ton of money into something that A) I don't know about and B.) might use only once or twice.
I know I need to step up my washing game after browsing around here a bit but that will come with some time and trial and stepping up some of my products.
Nick
The biggest thing I learned is that you need to spend all day washing and "polishing" not washing and "waxing." Watch the videos about washing, decontaminating, and polishing. Waxing is the easy part.
Good luck!

As I've posted here many many times before... If you're looking for cheap, we're not your guys. We cannot offer the quality of the product we do, packaged the way we do, with the support we do, with an uncondtional money back guarantee and compete on price. If we did we'd have gone out of business a long time ago.
If your only criteria for comparison is going to be 'what does it cost me per oz?' we're simply not going to be on the top of your list. Maybe the made in the USA (including packaging) part doesn't matter to you or perhaps you don't need the guarantee or the support. If thats the case I can only say that our products -according to the impartial reviews- are coming out on top. You'll have to decide if that is enough to justify the higher price for you. Theres nothing wrong with shopping on price if thats what your primary criteria is... we all do that for some things in our lives, but just go in knowing Adam's isn't able to be or trying to be 'the low price leader' on detail products. Thats not our focus and its not sustainable model for us. There are plenty of other guys out there doing the 'cheap' thing.
Remember - PRICE is what you pay. VALUE is what you get for your money. I think we add a lot of value to our products in the form of support and peace of mind, even though the price will regularly come out higher than other products in the segment.
Dylan,
Thanks for the reply.
I am an avid user of Adam's products and I constantly recommend your products to coworkers and friends. I do so because of the things you mentioned: quality, customer service, made in the USA...and the list goes on. I have been a passionate detailer since the late 80s and the products you sell are the best I have ever used. EVERYTHING I have used (from Adam's) has been CLEARLY superior in quality when compared to other products. When you factor in your guarantee and customer service...it is no contest. I guess that is why I am surprised to see the reviews of rinseless only being marginally better than other products. I suppose I will have to get a bottle and judge for myself.
Lastly, I hope you didn't take offense to my post...I certainly didn't mean any harm. I am relatively active in the forum and I love your products, so obviously I think your products demand a higher price. You have helped me many times over the past several years...I don't want you mad at me!
-
"Once again, the rinseless was great and edged out ONR for me."
This is pretty much what I took from Justin's review. Does this assessment justify double the cost for Adam's rinseless? I know the dilution ratio for Adam's is 2 oz to 5 gal and ONR is 1 oz to 2 gal...but when the price is double, the difference in dilution is lost.
9.9 times out of 10, the higher price for Adam's products is WELL worth it. But, if the rinseless is on par or only slightly better than competitors...is it worth it? For those that have used it...convince me!

Although the topic strayed a little...I agree with previous comments regarding clay lube. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Adam's Detail Spray...especially for its native intended use (as a detail spray). But, for clay lube...I think it is just not cost effective. When it is time for me to break out the clay bar, I look to more cost efficient lubes.

Live chat with Ashley doesn't exist anymore?? Bummer.
-
The experts will soon chime in...but, my first thought is a clay bar.

I was under the impression that the grit guards lock in the adams buckets?...is this true??
That would be pretty cool...but they don't lock. They just sit freely in the bottom (I have the older small sized bucket).
-
I just bought a bucket from Lowes and I cannot get the Grit Guard all the way down. I will be returning the bucket.
Correct, it doesn't go all the way down and that is why I like it. I can wedge it down so it doesn't spin. To me, the grit guard is much more effective when it doesn't spin.

This sounds like it started out as a joke and someone took it and ran with it as truth. Do yourself a favor and wash your car with Adam's shampoo.

Go for class...silver.

My car beads like crazy for several months after MSS...not sure why car didn't.

I'm pretty bummed...placed my order Monday and still has not shipped as of today. I was looking forward to having my stuff for the weekend. I get the snow storm...but, it seems like Adam's would prepare for the increased orders when having a sale.
Still love Adam's (have for a few years now)...but I am a little disappointed.
Just my $0.02.
