  1. Hello!

This is my re-introduction to the forum and Adam's world!

I recently got back from college and am looking to get back into detailing on the side.

Initially I was not going to detail (except for mine, friends, and family) anymore, but when I get an email asking me to come down and detail this, how could I say no?

    post-6400-0-77381300-1369630621_thumb.jpg

The car was in great shape, all I needed to do was strip wash, clay, 1-2 passes of FMP, glaze, and Americana.

    SO, here are the finals!

  2. Plastidip! I think some people here know how adamant I am on the stuff. Ive done 25+ cars. Everything from wheels, emblems, trim, you name it.

On emblems, be light. Light coats is key. If you don't, it will bubble and look terrible in the end. So take it slow and have fun. It comes off easily if you mess up!

  3. Search function bro!

Haha but no. Do not use. You'll find a dozen threads about how CA dusters are your finish's are you worst nightmare. I use to use it before I corrected my paint and then proceeded to use it after. The first time I used it after correcting my paint it was in the trash. I had to recorrect the next weekend

  4. I don't think they're in the stores yet.. I'll see if I have time to stop by one this weekend to compare, although I'm pretty sure I will know the results..

I believe they are in stores, but probably not in stock to buy. I'm going tomorrow to compare so I'll be back here and post my results.

  5. Alright, here is my entry for the Detail Something Different competition.

I have an absolutely thrashed iPad case that I got off amazon for $2. it didn't come to me in the best shape and I'm sure I have made it worse over the months. This also shows you what the normal wear of the back of your electronics go through without a case. On to the detail!

    Process:

    Waterless Wash Wipe Down

    Clay with Detail Spray

5+ passes of Severe Swirl Remover

    10+ passes of SHR

    5+ passes of FMP

    Brilliant Glaze

    Americana

    Picture Time:

It looked better, but was still not even close, so I stepped it up to SHR, then immediately followed with SSR.

Here is a few passes of SSR.

This is my time saving way of showing pictures. This is passes 10- 20+, it is a gif of every other pass I made. Didn't want to post up all of the pictures of barely improving.

I was about to give up... so I just decided to finish up with FMP and call it a day... Here is the result after 5 more passes of FMP :D

Thanks for looking! I had a blast doing this (even as frustrating as it was)

  6. Thanks for the responses guys!

Looking very good! :2thumbs: I've been seeing a lot of really nice silver cars on here recently with that pop to their paint after some Adam's loving. Makes me want silver! I'm sure your Dad was very impressed and happy!

It definitely pops! And it hides imperfections fairly well which has its ups and downs. Silver would be second choice if it wasn't for my favoritism for black

    The reflection is just killer!

I was so surprised to get this on silver! And that wet look around the fenders and quarters was insane. Adams impresses me with every use!

  7. This belongs to my dad. It was his birthday in early June and now it is father's day, so i decided to combine them while he was on a business trip and here is his present. A freshly detailed ride to come home to.

    My process was as followed.

2 Bucket strip wash - Adams shampoo with All Purpose Cleaner

    Clay with Detail Spray

    1 pass Fine Machine Polish

Machine Super sealant with a 18 hour cure

    Brilliant Glaze

    2 layers of Americana

Dressed up tires, trim, wheel wells - In & Out spray, SVRT

    Here are the pictures!

Let me start with a bit of good news!

  8. The scores appear to be equivalent for the same processors. The biggest differences between comparable CPUs would be the graphics chip which has to handle a much larger amount of data with the higher resolution.

Ohh okay. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

  9. I haven't, but I've noticed a difference when comparing my iPhone 4S and iPad screens to the laptops I have as well as a couple newer..

This. I'm going to wait until I compare the MacBooks side by side but like you said, I can notice the obvious difference with comparing iPhones with and without retina displays. It is clear which is better.

Photography is my hobby (when I'm not detailing). And this screen should be the best addition to that hobby. If the screen is as great as they say, then it is a no brainer. I'm in.

This is also going to be my computer for college though. So the power has to be there.

The specs are also nice. I like the stock SSD. This means fast access which I also like when dealing with photos and videos. The 8gb of ram, upgradable to 16 is unbelievable! I have 1gb now and 8 or even 16 times that is mind blowing to me. So that side has won me over.

    BUT!

The geek bench scores are scaring me. They are lower for the retina than just standard mid-2012 MacBooks. This worries me. I need to find an analysis of this because why would their flagship laptop score lower than the standard?

Overall, I'm impressed. I think they could have done more and been a little more extreme, but judging on what they have put out, it's much better than previous years upgrades so at least they are advancing. I was hoping for a iPhone 3G to iPhone 4 type of redesign, but oh well.
