  1. here is a sneak peak at the photoshoot yesterday! Thank you Adams Polishes, Dylan and Anthony... a big thanks to the man Adam, and Joe Everet too!
  2. thanks for all of the compliments... truck took 2 years to build, many times I felt like beating it with a 20lb sledge hammer lol, it certainly is a love/hate relationship. but the real fun should be driving it... soon!
  3. So after a couple of years I finally linked up with dylan to detail my truck for a photoshoot Tuesday... I was fortunate enough to be asked by Truckin' magazine to grace the COVER of their upcoming HP issue. Ive spent two years building this truck and we are finally just about finished, other than a few odds and ends she is done - after the photoshoot the truck is planned to goto SEMA with Wilwood Brakes, it will be a feature vehicle. Anyways... here is the write up I posted on performancetrucks.net, so some of the info might be redundant lol. --------------------begin post------------------- So saturday Dylan from adams polishes came up to detail my truck with his buddy anthony... We started at 9am sat morning and went until dark... here is the truck before we started... First step - clean the wheels Next they have a *****en soap/foam machine that they cover the entire truck in soap/foam... Before they touch the paint, the wash off all of the soap, then reapply another application of soap/foam and then proceed to washing the truck with adams wash pads Then they rinse it off, the dry it with adams drying cloths, after which the blow it dry with a leaf blower (my wet/dry vac from sears doubles as a leaf blower - highly recommended!) The detail products! Inspecting the NEW paint and all of the swirls - Orange pad with achine polish... hard at work dylan! Time for the fine polishing... white pad with a SMALL amount of product! I learned that a LITTLE product goes a long way. Inspecting the results - this is BEFORE any wax!! No more swirls, yaaaaa time for some VRT in the engine bay two coats of Americana wax - this stuff is insane! the powerplant - forged 427 LSX with a TVS 2300 SC. I could not get final pics because it was already dark out, and today there were several CLOSE fires in the area so I left her inside - I will get some final pics on tuesday. Big thanks to Dylan and Anthony, two very good guys who worked their asses off. I highly recommend them - IF you can get an appointment!!
  4. sorry man! but thanks... and hey, great minds think alike? if youre in socal, drop by my shop, you can check it out in person, when its done! Dave
  5. Thanks guys... any pros around that can shed some light? TIA
  6. ok question... i used machine wax on the tonneau cover (after i machine polished it) 1 side of the bed and tail gate was machined polished then buttery wax applied... how do I strip the tonneau cover, tailgate, and bed side?? thanks in advance... i will also take your advice and park the truck just outside the shop to let the sun heat it up, and help the drying time.
  7. I spoke to my painter and yes while it is best to wait for all of the solvents to rise up out of new paint... I have only applied buttery wax to the right side bed and tailgate... I will wait a few more weeks... but I will be doing a machine polish to the entire truck with some detail spray... would that be ok? thanks for the heads up!
  8. oh and before I get the onslaught of why i did so much performance stuff to a truck... im 6'8" 300lbs and as hard as I tried to fit in a Z06 that day at the dealership, it just didnt work... so I built a truck to be as fast a most z06's lol... with traction (HA!) i should have a mid 10 second truck
  9. Adam detail my truck??? that would be like asking the president to come to class for career day... not gonna happen lol. thanks for the compliments guys... there are so many things done to the truck you cant see - performance stuff... the list is long and extensive - so i wont bore anyone, last count - over 100k I spent 8+ hours underneath the truck detailing the undercarriage... spraying UC spray on MF towels (the crappy costco ones, not the good AP blue ones lol) and I am still not done... on my second bottle of UC spray too! Im just not sure what I should use for the exterior paint for the first time... I have some of the new paste wax coming later today or tomorrow, as soon as Joe unloads his truck - hurry up joe!!!!
  10. I finally got my truck back from being at the paint shop for the last 6 weeks... here is what I had done. Complete new paint - 2 tone, PPG Metallic blue and House of Kolor Orion Silver with a heavy HOK blue pearl on the silver. Separator graphic has real silver leaf and HOK metallic charcoal... pin striped hood and tailgate. Painted dash cover, and A pillars (silver to match) Shaved the door handles actuators installed with remote open New mirrors Welded and molded roll pan in New gaylords tonneau cover with remote open New 2pc 100% billet wheels - replacement for my old set (new updated design) the wheels look chrome, but they arent, just factory polished. The rotors look rusty, but the brake system - wilwood, has maybe 40 miles on them, and sitting in the wet paint booth they got a little rusty - plus the truck was towed back to my shop - but the first drive around the block will fix that. Also, the grill is reflecting banners in the background. here is a rear shot with the new billet wheels... taping off the truck getting ready for its first new detail. And this is the motor we put in - still not done - couple of weeks before we can start it... 427 LSX with TVS 2300 SC... meth/N20/more should have around 750RWHP. Truck will be a feature vehicle this year at SEMA, it has taken me 2 years of build time... ugh, but the end is in sight. now if i could only convince Dylan to come detail it for me
  11. I am stalking you!!! Good to see youre part of the adam's family!!!
  12. I think they are installing 48" florescent fixtures... so I guess at this point i need the best type of florescent bulb i can get... i dont want lights that show every micro scratch like regular florescent lights...
  13. I am getting an auto condo/shop for my show truck, about 1100 sq ft... loads of room for work benches, tools, etc... while i will not wash the car there, I will detail it inside the shop. Most of this industrial complex is just storage for exotics and classics... I will be in great company. While the ambient light is absolutely perfect being that there are two sky lights that light up the entire shop with great light, I need something for dusk and night time... the shop has NO over head lights and I HATE florescent lights... my budget for this is around $500 for over head lights... I need something that makes the paint and truck look good... anyone have any suggestions? Thanks...
  14. The truck is actually a indigo blue... with 6 coats of clear... but wait there's more... I am taking the truck down this week to meet with a kick *** graphics painter... I have some sick ideas for the truck... the blue is just the base coat... Tribal ghost flames 3D with some metallic blue reverse flames, and airbrushed effects... nothing outrageous.... but it will POP if you know what i mean... stay tuned...
  15. I am 6'8" 300lbs, so I dont fit so well in a Z06, so I decided it would be fun to build a truck to compete with them... So yes i did consider shaving the handles, but you cant run on the track (1/4 mile) with shaved handles - its a rule on all tracks. The wheels were one off design, modeled after the Z06 wheels... they are Prowheels, 22x10, 2 pc forged billet - weighing in at 29lbs each. Thank you for all the nice comments!
  16. Hi, my name is david... I have a 2004 Silverado truck. I have used a ton of detail products and truth be told, I have an addiction to buying them... I have tried the usual suspects - McGuire's, Automagic, Zaino, Mother's, Lucas Oil, and others. Some have been better than others... but I am still in search of the ultimate product! Today I finally bought a few items from my local Adam's dealer on a referral from a friend, Brian from magnacharger. I met up with Joe and Sandy Everret, and they were extremely helpful. I am taking the truck to a car show and shine tomorrow, so i didnt have time to do a complete detail, so I bought only a couple of items.. Detail spray Brilliant spray glaze Under body spray window cleaner VRT Metal polish #2 Microfiber towels (4) I cleaned the truck with the detail spray, and it did a great job. I then applied a coat of the spray glaze and let it dry for about 45mins or so... During which time, metal polish #2 was applied to all of the forged billet wheels, and buffer out, with a final touch of detail spray. The tires were then dressed, and the under carriage was sprayed down. I went to work on the engine during the drying time of the Glaze, and then cleaned the interior, using the glass cleaner which was just amazing. After the glaze was buffed off, I stepped back and was happy with the results, granted this glaze isnt as deep as a wax as I was told, but I didnt have time today to do a complete detail. Here are a couple of pictures of my truck... it is a prostreet silverado, in the middle of a engine and supercharger transplant, soon to have 750+ rwhp... hopefully within the next month everything will be done. It is also in this months issue of trucking magazine, with a bunch more articles to come, along with a cover feature in next year's HP Edition. (at magnaflow getting a full custom exhaust) anyways, hope you like the truck, and I look forward to some detail tips!
