Machined Aluminum

green6767

Question

I've got some wheels with bare spots of machined aluminum on them. The rest of the wheel has been painted/cleared. I polish and wax those spots. I'm a bit confused as how to care for and "seal" the bare, machined aluminum. Its not a smooth, polished texture to where one could acquire a "shine" with some metal polish. Its as bare as if it just came off the CNC machine.

Any suggestions on how to protect those areas?

Hey Dallas, Your best bet is to keep a good coat or 10 of Machine Super Wax or Americana on them. lol Just make sure they're clean and free of any oil or other waxes and apply either product. 2 coats should suffice. :jester:

I prefer MSW on my wheels.

Don't let those wheels EVER see salt and clean them regularly, as brake pad materials can be harmful to uncoated/bare metals.
