3M film paint protection

Question

Hey guys. I have this on the front of my car...2 feet upon the hood, full bumper and headlights.

I know, I know...a lot of you guys don't like it. :) But we get too much chips from sand and rocks from living up here in Canada.

I'm curious what Adams products I can use when working on my car. I'm guessing I can't use any polishes or DA machine on it right?

Can I use the glaze and Americana wax on it?

This information also applies... the clear protective films are treated in the same manner as the gloss vinyl stripes.

Key points:

  • Tape edges before any work is done to avoid buildup.
  • Avoid heavy abrasives (nothing more aggressive than FMP or Revive)
  • Limit the amount of claying done to 'as needed'
  • Clean with car wash soap, waterless wash, or detail spray the same as you would the paint.
  • Seal or wax the same way you do painted surfaces.

Thanks Dylan, I was just watching that video.

So it's safe use wax/seal with a PC?

Can you use VRT on it as well?

VRT will make it look all streaky and oily... VRT DOES work well if you're going on a road trip and you want the bugs to release easily when you wash it.

I've waxed mine many times with the PC.

Treat the protective film the same way you would the gloss stripes. VRT works for matte, not gloss.

You can seal/wax with the PC on the film if you need to, just don't cross the edge/make sure its taped off.
