Paint chips now filled with polish

As a newbie addict, I'm trying to perfect my skills on my DD Volvo 850 before moving on to the "garage queen".

 

Surprisingly the Volvo's paint has held up very well considering 170,000 miles driven and 17 years of abuse including never seeing the inside of a garage.

 

After polishing the hood with a PC and appropriate polishes (severe, swirl and final polish - 3 stages), I believe because of all the paint chips in the hood, the polish has filled those low points making the hood look even worse than before.

 

I was thinking to wash again after soaking with All Purpose and trying to seal (which I think will dry clear).

 

Any thoughts?
