Non-detailing question?

Quick question my brother in law took in is 2011 ford edge to the dealer to get a leaky transmission fixed. Now there going to keep it for a couple days,this is the third time it's been in there since last summer when they got it. DOES FORD HAVE TO GIVE YOU A LOANER ADEQUATE TO WHAT YOU DRIVE? They want to give him a focus he has a pregnant wife and a two year old.

No, many dealers consider it a courtesy to give you a loaner at all.

Count yourself lucky that you get anything at all...A focus is more than big enough for 2 and a 1/4 people. I could put all 4 of my family in a Focus. It'd be one thing if he had to drive it forever, but it's short term.

I don't know of any rules/laws, that's just based on my experience. Some dealers give you a reasonably equivalent vehicle, some give you a rental allowance, and some just say "we'll call when it's ready."

if they don't give you a loaner, maybe they have a courtesy van to take you home/work/school and pick you up
