Retired_CPO
WOO HOO!!!!!!!! Someone in Washington FINALLY did something good! First time home buyer credit. Used to be a $7500 credit that you had to pay back over 15 years- amounting to an interest free loan. Now it does NOT have to be paid back! I just did a buddys taxes and he's getting back $14,100:banana: http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/29/real_estate/tax_credit_near/?postversion=2009012907 Well I should have waited until last year to buy my house..... 08G8V8
Actually it was $8,570. That's nearly what I got back, but I think some of it is going back to Uncle Sam. After my taxes were completed by my tax person, I was reviewing them and saw that I was getting 2X the depreciation on my rental property than in years past. So, now I have to do an ammendment and most likely send a check back in. So, I have the money just sitting in the bank, waiting to be spent, but knowing it's not all mine.
