Michael@Adams
I remember your pictures on the instagram and finally got around to seeing this! Good job, buddy. Did you get that new warehouse worker to assist you?
gogo87u
Hello Nick, I have never posted here but that is amazing what you did with that single stage black paint. Fantastic work! Nick, I need your help. I have been arguing for years with Corvette friends about the solid color (non-metallic) red, black, and white paints used on 1982 Corvettes. I say those three 1982 colors (and ONLY those three colors) were NOT clearcoated from the Bowling Green factory. My friends say that ALL 1982 Corvettes were clearcoated. Who is right? Your black Corvette is a 1982 and without question it is not clearcoated. (I assume it is the original paint?) Are you able to tell me the trim tag info? That will answer my debate. The trim tag is on the driver door hinge pillar - it's a small metal tag that is pop-riveted to that hinge pillar - you have to open the door and look near the hinges. Can you send me an email with that info? If you are uncertain what those letters and numbers mean (which are embossed on the tag), I can give you that info. It's basically your car's DNA, build date, etc. Thanks! Best, Robert Casey Los Angeles, CA

gogo87u
Thank you Ricky Bobby. Would you know the answer to my question: Were 1982 Corvettes in red, black, and white clearcoated? Thanks. Best, Robert
Ricky Bobby
I have no clue Robert, have you ever tried to email Corvette historians or perhaps Chevrolet themselves to look into that?
gogo87u
Yes, I have. It is a point of contention. I'll keep searching. Thank you.
