Sealant for the Thunderbird

694doorbird

Question

Love the way my ranger came out with the sealant/Americana combo, so know I want to do the Thunderbird.

since it always has a nice of wax, it will need to be stripped. I know I can wipe it down with the alcohol rub, but I've read I can also add all purpose cleaner to the soap bucket. If I do this, how much APC do I add to the soap? How will the APC affect the vinyl top, it's original to the car.

Thanks

Mike, I usually add a couple ( around 4) ounces APC to my wash bucket when I am going to do a 'strip' wash.  I will say that the vinyl top should be fine, you are not 'soaking' it with APC so it will be OK.  Also, I will assume, that you are going to treat the top with SuperVRT or something after you are done.  You will be good!
