694doorbird
I know that there are a lot of Chevy fans here, so I figure this is a good place to ask. Recently my son bought a '78 El Camino in pretty decent shape. While he was waxing it, he noticed the CONQUISTA emblem was missing from the tailgate. He seems to think it's a metal emblem to match the fender El Camino emblems. I can only find a decal for the tailgate. Is the decal correct? If so what would be the correct color for it. His car/truck is gold/cream. Phoenix Graphix seems to have a big choice of color combinations. http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/gm/7887ecc.php Thanks,
LFairbanks
Not an expert, but I found this. I'am guessing the color scheme your referring to as gold / cream is actually referred to by GM as Saffron and Camel. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits/El-Camino/1978-Chevrolet-El-Camino.pdf You will have to scroll down and look. The page numbers are chopped off. Page I'am referring to says " EL CAMINO SUPER SPORT INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SELECTION CHART" It will tell you the color of the sticker for that car. Looks to me like Red and Black. Found this too. http://www.elcaminostore.com/gmc-parts.html?reset=1 https://www.opgi.com/el-camino/1978/decals/exterior-decals/ Hope something here helps. Good luck. b_pappy
Sounds like you have the answer. "Conquista" was just a trim level. I had one way back when, it was a decal, not an emblem. Bruce
