Would VRT Help!!

Would VRT help get this clean?? The first picture is when we were stuck. The second one shows what type of hole we were stuck in!

I think that would be a true test for the Green Wheel Cleaner!!!! We needed some interior cleaner as well. If you look at the back door you'll see that some of that "stuff" seeped in. OH what a horrible smell. I was sitting in the passenger seat literally looking down on my driver telling him the whole time that he was in for a fun day of cleaning once we got back to the FOB. It took him over 2 hours to defunk the truck. Needless to say he never got us stuck again. This was my crew. That's me on the left and my driver is the second from the right.

Thanks for the offer. However we are all back stateside now. Myself and my gunner are the only two still in the Army. He is heading to Afghanistan next month and I just found out that I might be heading over there at the end of the year. Thanks again!

That mud looks pretty gross. I've got that type of mud on trucks b4. Adam's doesn't make anything strong enough to dissolve that...

Mike, first let me thank you for your service! You guys who were over in Vietnam had it a lot rougher than we did. We both experienced war but yours was a lot tougher. I would have loved to see your gun truck. Quad 50s and Twin 60s!!! Talk about some serious firepower. The vehicles that we had over there are up-armored Hummers ( HUMVEEs). They have bolted on armor on the doors and a little on the roof. I had 6 trucks assigned to my platoon. 2 had .50 Caliber machine guns, 1 with a MK-19 (Automatic grenade launcher) and a M-240B (The 240B took the place of the M-60 aka The Pig!!!!) and the others has the 240 Bravos. We usually conducted missions with only 5 trucks unless we needed the 6<sup>th</sup> one. So to get back to your question, I would say that they are a combination of both. These truck were used in many different ways. We would take the trucks to a drop off point and then dismount. Once we dismounted the trucks would move to a over watch position and cover our movement. It’s always good to have that firepower watching your back. Plus it didn’t hurt when the Apache helicopters were flying over head. Thanks again Mike for YOUR service!!!!!

Over in Iraq I was with the 2nd Briagde, 2nd Infantry Divison out of Fort Carson, CO. I was a platoon sergeant over in Iraq but this past December I was promoted to Master Sergeant (E-8). I've been teaching at the University of Rhode Island in the ROTC department for the past 17 months. The army gave me a cush job since I was hurt over in Iraq. I've been in since 89' so I've been with a bunch of different units.

25th Infantry Division, Hawaii; 82nd Airborne Divison, Fort Bragg, NC; 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, Alaska; Sniper School Instructor, Fort Benning, GA; Drill Sergeant, Fort Benning, GA; 2nd Infantry Divison, Fort Carson, CO; Now ROTC Instructor, RI

I found out last week that I will be heading over to Afghanistan in January. The fun never stops. The wife was pretty ticked off but she quickly got over it. This coming August is my 20 year point. So I could retire but they won't let me since I just came down on assignment. When I get back, I hanging the boots up for good!! I worked with a lot of Marine Force Recon Teams while I was in Hawaii and again while I was in Iraq. I was fortunate because they were both very good units. Strong Leadership within the NCO Corp. Hey, not a bore at all! I was a "stinkin' 03" (0311) or infantry rifleman. Life expectancy, 11 seconds in combat. That was really motivational! :rolleyes:

I did my first two years guarding nuclear weapons. It was fun duty because the rules of engagement were kind of simple. Shoot it until it stops moving.

My last two years were spent traveling the globe and running the requalification course for Marines on small arms. I could shoot the sweat bead off a sand flea at 400 yards. Okay, maybe that's small stretch! Being a grunt had its challenging moments. I have slept in more mud and chewed up more dirt than a human should see.

I left the Corps and became a L.A. County Sheriff for a few years but ended up tired of the California rat race. I came back to Kentucky where I am presently.

You guys stay safe over there. If I wasn't so old and out of shape, I'd love to rejoin my unit over there. I was with the "big red 1" or 1st Marine Division.

Man, I miss that comradery. :patriot:

The comradery is AWESOME especially in the Infantry. There is no other job I rather do in the army than being in the infantry. The brotherhood is unmatched. I know what you mean about sleeping in mud and chewing up the dirt. Thanks for your service!!!! :patriot:

WOW. Was that a sink hole or did the driver think that was a puddle? That is one of those priceless pictures. By the way, was that 3rd ID by any chance?

3-7INF, 3ID......YUP!!

It was a hole dug for the waste water from the washrack. Problem was, it rained..... for 3 days!!

Driver lost the road and drove into the hole at 3am. Recovered it at first light.

Rob, were you guys out of Stewart or Benning? When I was at Benning, those 3rd Brigade guys were something else. The MPs were always going up to Kelly hill. Are you still in or did you get out?
