Brake dust

I just finished cleaning off the rims on my van yesterday and today there is already brake dust on them. Is there a way to prevent brake dust between washes?

Great question! You have a few options so don't fret!

 

Coat your wheels with our Brilliant Spray Glaze. It creates a very smooth surface and does not allow brake dust to settle as easily. A coat of wax will perform similarly but the BSG is a bit easier to apply.

 

You can also consider switching to different brake pads. I switched to ceramic and it's been a huge difference.

Yes, I agree. Ceramic pads helped a lot. And the BSG seems to keep it from adhering so quickly. You still need to keep after it. But it's much easier to remove.

I've been waxing my rims for several years now. It doesn't stop the brake dust but once the wheels are cool, you can simply wipe the brake dust off.

Get some EBC greenstuff brake pads (low dust and easier to clean than other pads), or get some dust shields for your wheels. Keep the wheels waxed and each time you clean them it will be easier than it would with non waxed wheels.
