  1. Quick sealant has been on my list of things to get for a while now, and with new wheels in the mail with a matte finish I had heard this is what you need to use. But I never made it a priority.

That's no longer the case! Our winters here in Portland are usually just rain, with temps between 35 and 40, we just had a couple inches of snow about a week ago and with all the salt and de ICER they use, I wasn't keen on it. But thank you for display! I'm very excited to order this now!

  2. So i have a new set of wheels on the way for my pickup, A set of TSW Rockingham's in Flat black.

I thought i had read somewhere before about using quick sealant on Matte finish wheels do seal them from the elements. But i cant seem to find it! So i would like to have some confirmation that is what i should order! I was also wondering if that was the case, would the new liquid paint sealant work any better?

  3. That looks darn good.  I don't even think its something that I can contemplate, I think it HAS to happen.  Tacoma's are just too notorious for frame rot to not do it.  Some of the pictures the Tacoma guys post over on TacomaWorld of their 05-06's of their frames is just mind boggling.  Nearly 4-5 inch holes in their frames and near critical joints and suspension areas.

Where did you get your fluid film from?  I believe I read its available at Advanced Auto now.

For something so new this is insane! The old pickups don't even have this much of an issue! That will turn into a serious safety issue really quick

  4. While not the best method, it was paint thinner not a paint remover.  Your clear coat can easily handle some paint thinner even though it wouldn't be my go to method.  Many dealerships probably use it to remove adhesive residues.

The reason you can put paint thinner on clear coat is because your clear coat is chemically hardened, it doesn't dry like the base coat does. But its always unsettling, in case something goes wrong.

  5. Just curious but with the Lizard Skin stuff does it say anywhere on the container that it's made in the USA?  I'll have all of the body parts off of the vehicle so I figured while it's all apart, can't hurt to apply some thermal and sound deadening products.  I'll probably still hear a combination of wind, engine and tire noise of some varying levels :)

I'll have to take a look and find out if says where it's made on the container

  6. Good stuff.  I'll make note of that since I'm going to start a tub off restoration here on one of my vehicles.  I was going to look into Lizard Skin's lineup but they don't clearly state that their product is made in the USA.  I'll have to inquire about that but the Second Skin products look promising.

Funny that you mention that, this search was inspired by the lizard skin my dad has that was left over from a friend of ours, that we used since we had it. So far we're pretty happy with it, but the next project we took a little different approach to that i think will work better then our first trial

  7. While doing some research on sound deadening for my pickup, I was looking into the brand Second Skin, and found that they're products are made in the USA!

Any of the Car audio forums, are usually very pleased with their products, and they have some good information on the products. I figured anyone looking to make their Daily driver that much nicer can look here!
