Pretty much to see the techniques used today and the new products available, hoping to get inspired. Things have advanced since the Turtle Wax days. Glad to be in on the tail-end of things at my age and see everything I was doing wrong....

  1. Acid rain will do exactly that, how bad is pending on weather pattern. Think it's sulfuric acid from the sulphur content of too much fossil fuel being used and it condenses and returns to senders....
  2. Happens all the time on the Boss302 Forum, usually right after a write up....
  3. At a loss on the washing of the towels, seriously. Why can't they be washed and dried the same as anything else? The idea is to keep them supple, lint free and not wear them out from washing and boiling water before you use them? Is it the towel or how the towel is used, would think a light circular motion would produce the desired results. Any info on this back to the beginning and basics from what I know and from what I'm reading here would be good....
  4. Have had that issue with other things too. If it's in a metal container lightly run my butane torch over the top. Make sure it's not flammable, be ready to put out, not the best idea but fast. Would work on ice cream?
  5. Have used lacquer thinner or Methyl Ethel Keytone, have to work on it sometimes. Will not hurt car finish but something recently painted will clean paint off also. It will break down the RTV so you can gently rub it off with your finger/soft cloth....
  6. Looks good, never had an issue with spraying motor using a fine spray. When it rains water splashes up underneath in engine bay anyways. Wouldn't hurt the battery to wash, not enough voltage to short circuit or arch. A lot of people forget the motor.
  7. Saw that I think several months back, may not be real but a real conversation piece.
  8. Went grocery shopping this AM, brought in a bag of deposit cans and bottles. Took the pups for a walk on the trails, helped neighbor set a pileing for his retainer wall. Next had a cookout and went cycling through the woods. Getting ready to jump in the pool, hot as anything here too. Watch some TV and lights out. Hmmm, do this everyday, don't work anymore.
  9. I can see how that all would take 10 hours, almost as if you could detail a car with no paint and get great results on bare metal.
  10. Like my Wife's car, do all that work and it's back looking the same by the next week. Guess the practice is good to do though?
  11. Is it real burl or plastic finished? If you try too much you'll wear right through the paint. Had a similar problem on my road runner dash but it was painted. Bought a real wood walnut veneer piece and installed on dash, looked great, real wood. Was a kit for entire dash and matched simulated wood steering wheel.
  12. Didn't know either, very informative...
  13. Never would of thought to of checked something like that. Must only process the wool to a certain point before manufacturing. Wonder if there was burrs in my navy 13 button bell bottoms (winter blues) they were wool? Were always a bit itchy....
  14. Looks great, how did the plexi quarter windows look? May of been hazed and full of those mini stress cracks and scratches. Know you could buff those and they'd look pretty good....
