Looks like Im about 2hrs away from you, if you don't find anyone local let me know I can help ya out.
-
Where in Maryland are you from?
-
just curious if anyone knows of any facebook groups? places to buy, sell, trade detailing supplies and tools.
-
any suggestions on where to look for such products as a fabric sealant and odor eliminator?
-
I haven't seen anyone have my luck with polishing the film, keep in mind how soft that vinyl is.
-
In my experience using that type product I can say that it does scratch but you need to realize it is used as a protection for the paint. The newer coatings are a little better than the original ones but you will notice some imperfections.
-
So if you cant tell by reading the few posts Ive made I am starting up a small detailing business. I am in the process of collecting tools, chemicals, and supplies to make my go at this successful. My question today is what products does everyone offer for odor elimination and fabric protection? I also notice that some of my soon to be competition offers different levels of paint sealing, any suggestions here?

I would majorly pass on pick up/delivery, way too much liability. Make sure you have insurance that covers it if you decide to do it though.
I'm usually in the $50-100 range per hour - sometimes more, sometimes less because it depends entirely on the particular job. I don't charge by the hour but rather base the cost of my packages around how many hours it will take and what I want to make. So if a Wash/Clay/Seal + Basic Interior Detail will take you 3 hours just multiply that by what you feel like your hourly rate should be.
I only charge by the hour for multi-step paint corrections where the exact time for service is unknown. I know from experience how long each non-polishing job will take so that's where my prices come from.
Just a suggestion but for the referral program, I'd make it 5 (or whatever number you feel necessary) referrals (who purchase details) gets them a maintenance wash. Don't give too much away for free.
Also look around at your competition and see what they're charging. Chances are they know the prices that your particular area is willing to pay.
Feel free to check out my website if you want to see my prices, send me a PM for the link if you want it.
just googled the site, damn nice I must say. This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you.

I guess you could say we live in the suburbs, not mobile but plan to offer pickup and delivery, most of the local places Ive seen are very expensive for the service they provide, I am capable of complete paint correction as well as equipped with a steam cleaner and extractor, I would like to offer packages, and yes capable of doing interiors.

Hey guys, Ive been doing side detail jobs for friends and family for along time. Ive decided to get serious about doing this as a side business now that I have the garage and time to get more serious about it. Question is what are you guys charging? can someone give me a run down of what you offer and what you charge per service. I am also thinking of offering a referral punch card type deal that if a customer refers 5 new customers they receive a free detail. any input is greatly appreciated.

been detailing for some time now but never tried to do the headlight restoration, anyone have a video or some direction? maybe add this to some of my detail packages.

I am more or less looking for something that I can apply polish with vs using my dewalt that I use when I actually sand and buff

thanks, any idea if they run specials on the cyclo?
-
Ive never used a cyclo and have contemplated buying one but I was wondering if anyone has another polisher they can suggest or maybe pro vs cons from other brands?

Look into a Chevy Cruze or Malibu in your price range, both great cars and from what we see at the dealership most are having a fair amount of luck with them. Keep in mind when shopping for a car not only the cost but the maintenance costs.

It works fine, you'll get a feel for how close you need to put the head of the steamer next to things once you start using it.
I wouldn't blast a direct stream near sensitive electronics but you can hold a towel in front of the head and scrub, etc.
did you buy the kit that amazon has or just the basic one?
-
thanks didn't even think about WD

Try a citrus based product first....think Goo Gone or something similar. It may take longer, but will ultimately be safer. Many of the "good" adhesive removers might cause discoloration of the vinyl.

Thanks, I'll pickup some goo gone or something similar. that's my fear is ruining my dash.
-
Looking for some for some suggestions on what to use on my dash, I bought my car with a hideous "monster" tach and they used 3m tape to adhere it to the dash. Now that the tach is gone I need to remove the remaining tape adhesive.

I used the wedge for the first time the other day when I washed my wifes suv and I must say I like it but I agree it does take more pressure to get a clean finish and it does take awhile for it to dry

what steps are you guys using to bring life back to 20-25 yearold paint? You know red for instance, normal steps or is there something I should be doing differently?
