  1. OK. That makes perfect sense. Also, the price difference is definitely worth considering too. Those clay towels aren't cheap! I have used clay bars in the past and was always amazed at the results. Adams clay bar it is then! Thanks.
  2. I love Florida. Even though it does get below freezing here in north Florida, it was in the high 50's last week so I was washing/detailing. Neighbors looking at me like I was crazy. Anything below 80 is "cold" down here.
  3. Hey Dan Is Adams considering anything like a clay towel (Nanoskin) to replace the clay bar? Seems like these new generation towels/mitts are getting very positive reviews.
  4. I'm working out of state so I can't check but I'm about 99% sure its orbital (DA), not rotary. Looks exactly like the one sold here, 7424xp. Also, I used to paint cars a long time ago so I'm definitely an experienced buffer. All we used was rotary. Those air buffers could rip the paint right off if you weren't very careful! Don't ask me how I know...
  5. OK Dan sounds good. I do have the Porter Cable and I believe that backing plate is 5" correct? I definitely agree with you about 6" pads on a 5" plate. I used to paint cars about 10 years ago and have a LOT of buffing experience so I understand what you mean by correcting power and I never did like the larger buffing pads. 6" pads should be perfect. Can you give me a short list on what to use for light swirl mark removal and what color pads to use? Also, I should buff AFTER I clay bar right? Thanks. Randy
  6. OK, thanks so far everyone. I've been looking at all the different products and have a pretty good plan in place. Been watching the videos and so far have a ton of stuff in my wish list. C'mon tax refund!
  7. OK, I figured out I have the Porter Cable orbital polisher like the one sold here but an older model.
  8. Thanks for the reply sahls I did polish and carnuba wax just the hood to see the results and it looks like I was able to hide the swirl marks with just that so I'm thinking a hand polish should do the trick. For the life of me I can't remember which buffer I have but it was a premium buffer about 5 years ago. It's electric and I think it's circular but honestly cant remember. I'm travelling right now so can't go look.
  9. OK Dan That looks like a great plan. I've already adopted the two bucket wash but didn't think about clay bar on a new car. Good point so I'll definitely plan on that. The rest looks excellent. Pretty much just what I was looking for. Thanks Dan.
  10. Hey All Brand new 2015 Camaro SS, Crystal Red. I've owned several Camaros in the past but it's been about 5 years since I owned a vehicle where I really care about the paint. Just the little bit of research I've done tells me there has been some big changes in paint care. Here's where I'm at: Daily driver. Commute mostly on interstate. In the south so no snow or winter conditions. Mostly rain, bugs and idiot drivers on I-10!! Not a show car or a garage queen although I do have a garage where she gets detailed and spends the night. Anyway, I could use advice on a "basic" system that will keep my paint looking as good as possible and provides the best protection. I know this car will get beat up as a daily driver and that's OK. Also, I would like to keep it simple. I've been spending a lot of time here and I'm a little overwhelmed by all the info. Not interested in professionally applied coatings or films. Something I can do myself please! I have no problem spending all day in the garage and I do own a good buffer. Paint is brand new, virgin but messed up by dealership detailers. Not bad but noticeably spider webbed/swirl marks etc so I have some work to do. Where should I start? Thanks.
  11. Panhandle area of Florida. Just bought a brand new 2015 Camaro SS. She's gorgeous! Want to keep her that way. Looking to learn a lot here. Thanks.
