I use 5000k led lights for detailing work lights, as they are in the 'daylight'  spectrum.  Not sure if the 6500k would better, or be too bright and wash out some things.

Not sure, but it made my car look flawless until i hit it with my LED stand.  Then I could find the flaws easier

That looks slick ! Ill have to consider that. I also notice its 4000k. Maybe Ill try that color flourescent as well to see if it helps locate scratches !

    Thanks guys !

  2. Everyone:

I have the following fluorescent lights in my garage.  --> 10x 4 ft lights.

They are 6500k right now and i love how it makes the garage really light up.

I was wondering what "color" fluorescent lights should I get to BEST show the scratches in paint.

I have already done a full paint correction on my car but I had a light stand which helped me find the scratches.

Details on my paint correction --> http://www.toquez06.com/ctsvpaint.html

I just want to have a set of 10x  4ft fluorescent lights on stand-by if I want to paint correct another car.

It would only take a few mins to swap out the 6.5K's with another color fluorescent lights

Something that really would show the scratches in paint.

I have since ditched the PC and I now have a 15mm Swirl Killer and a Swirl Killer Mini.

I can't wait to try them both out !

    Thanks

    Mark

Looks like spare motor brushes. Save them so when they wear out, you can change them.

Nice to they’re included. My Rupes didn’t come with spares.

Thank you Shane... I suspected as much, but I just wanted to make sure.

  4. Everyone:

I received my Swirl Killer Mini on Friday.

Yesterday I was testing it out on my wife's SUV headlights.

I can tell I'm going to really enjoy using this polisher for all the tight spots !

It made the headlights look like new !

I also received the following in the box with the Swirl Killer Mini.

I read all the instructions , but did not see what this is for ?

    Anyone know ?

    Thanks !

Nice looking Z Mark.  I had an 02 Z06 before I traded up to the 427.  And the Caddy is a great car, although I don't have a V.  I need the AWD around here.  But it's a great looking coupe, and they're hard to find nowadays.

Nice work on both projects! I am ready for some consistent weather to break out the polishing goodies I purchased/received for Christmas.

Thank you ! Yea that would be frustrating not being able to work on your car like we can in the south.

  8. Everyone

I just wanted to say hi to everyone and thank Adams for making such wonderful products and how to video’s for us garage detailers out there.

I started using Adams metal polishes on my “bare” aluminum wheels on my Z06 years ago. It performed well beyond anything I could buy in any store. That was the beginning of my adiction to Adams products.

After some convincing from my friends that I should get my paint corrected/ceramic coating on my new to me 2011 manual 6 speed CTS-V. I decided to do some research on what it all was about.  I went to various web sites and watched tons of videos.  I quickly learned that this was easily a $1000 venture to have done professionally. Having a complete paint correction performed and a full Ceramic coating applied was not a small job.

The Adams how to videos helped me feel confidant that I can learn to do this myself. I greatly enjoyed learning something new as well.

I managed to get a Porter Cable polisher, Adams 3 step pads, Adams 3 step polish, Adams backing plate and Adams Ceramic coating kit.

I later learned that I should have gotton the Adams Swirl Killer polisher.  Its on my Christmas wish list for my wife right now. 8-). The PC worked ok though but now I know better. The higher quality Adams polisher with a longer throw would have made my job easier.  I also learned that the smaller Adams Swirl Killer MINI would have been great to have. All of the tight spots on the front grill, mirrors, pillars, etc would have been much easier to correct with the right tool for the job. I ordered one today with all the 4” pads. I can also use it on my daily driver and wifes SUV to clean up some scratches and headlight polishing.

I’m still learning what works best but it seems Adams has me covered on what works best.

I must say it was a lot of detailed work paint correcting and ceramic coating,  but the results turned out to be amazing.  I think I did well for my first time.

I have some info on what I did on my web site if anyone wants to see.

    http://www.toquez06.com/ctsvpaint.html

Keep up the good job of providing us great products to keep our cars looking new !!!

    Thanks Adams !

    Mark
