  1. Wrapped 'em in a dry cleaning bag, sitting my shelf system for now until I get a plastic tub (with a lid) for them and all the pads. It's a quick temporary fix that keeps any dust/pollen/grit/? off them.
  2. The halogen lights are VERY REVEALING. Get ready for what you're probably gonna see - they show every little surface swirl and or scratch and or blem. But the good news is that you can remove a lot, maybe all, of what you will see under the halogen lights. And THEN when it is out in the sun, it will look great.
  3. To verify the weight, check this - http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5692&highlight=weights And don't forget to put on that little plastic washer/spacer on the pad shaft before you screw the pad into the PC. It needs that spacer to work properly. It's fun time!
  4. I think having a half dozen or so of the MF applicator pads is the easiest solution for me...
  5. Those points look like shark's teeth!
  6. Well, maybe not the finish, but that engine is a torque makin' monster..
  7. Ok, I will ask the question AJ, what pad do you use for the Revive polish. I would expect that you would use it with a PC - my guess would be a gray pad.
  8. yup. If it is waxed really well, the protection from bird poo etching is a lot better than bare clear coat. Buttery should be pretty slick. Regarding the clay bar, I would only do that quarterly, even if it is outside, and only if it does not pass the 'baggie over your hand' test. Clay it right before you do any other surface correction and or (super machine wax/buttery wax/americana wax). After it's all polished and waxed up, sometimes the bird poo (if near/on curved surface) may even ricochet off - you will see an odd colored 'film' on the paint, and the poo will will be on the ground. The film will wipe off easily. THAT's a real benefit to having a well waxed finish, and I agree with CRQuarto -a smooth, polished, and slick finish also helps the ease of ongoing maintenance. Once you get it nice, it's easier to keep it that way. Go for it. If you are curious about the 'baggie' test, check out the Adam's videos on claybar and polishing.
  9. Those water spots - ouch! Those things gave me the shivers just to see them in a photo. Great job, especially being under a close time limit like that...
  10. Wow AJ you've got Adam's logos on pretty much everything, even your hat. Yeah, I could get one of those aprons too.
  11. Make it black (with the red logo). (no not the Stones)
  12. Doing something really nice for for her for Valentine's Day? Don't miss the opportunity to make a fuss over her.. ssh, keep it a secret
  13. Make sure to put the little washer (with the wrench) on the threaded shaft before using the buffer. The washer is crucial to getting the unit to work properly. Check this out for setting up the PC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SDC3oYRaG8&feature=PlayList&p=FC70B6341D4FE361&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=1
  14. Only slight changes in the XP model, nothing major. I think the Junkman uses the same model as you and does his miracles with that one, so you are in good company! The big thing is going to a machine vs doing the work by hand. But regardless of which PC 7424 model you use, you won't believe the improvement in results from your efforts when using SHR with the PC, and now you can use the FMP and the machine super wax. (I use MSW for my DD that lives outside)
  15. Just tried that. Works well! Once I spun each of them in the wash bucket, they dried out in no time, and no laundry to do as with towel blotting. Give me that low maintenance.
  16. Has the yellow pad fallen from favor? (not that most folks would require it)
  17. Yeah, just had a neighbor come over and ask why all the time spent this weekend in the garage. Told him I was cleaning the finish, working with a clay bar. He looked skeptical. I let him hand touch a before and after area with his bare hand, then told him to use the plastic bag. Made his jaw drop. He said, "oh man, I wouldn't want to touch my truck like this with a plastic bag".
  18. Ditto A.J on the claying. Just did my first on on this vehicle last weekend. I got it really really smooth, so not looking forward to that again for a few months, and certainly not to that extreme. It's amazing to see what comes off the finish.
