  1. Your guy's SSL certificate and this forum hosting needs to be adjusted.

    1. When I come through via HTTP,  it is not doing HTTPS redirection.
    2. Your certificate also has issues, mostly with HSTS. This has become more strict in FF/Chrome and causes issues coming to this site over HTTPS now within those browsers.

This may not make sense to most reading, but forward this info on to your IT people. Cloudfront themselves may be able to help you since it seems you're using AWS.

What all of this means is, if someone is on a network that is being watched, them typing in their password or going to the page to change their password is completely unencrypted and readable by someone who could be maliciously watching.

It seems the cert from DigiCert on adamspolishes.com is just fine. So for those reading, there is no issue with your information on the shop (adamspolishes.com), only with the forums.

  2. Ask her if she has transported birds or bird seed at one time.  The seed will generate something similar to what you're describing.  My wife keeps all her seed in an extra fridge down stairs for that reason.

    Interesting. I will find out.

  3. I do not have an Ozone machine. You can rent them though, can you not?

I am definitely worried about what could be found under the seats. If the foam is toast or the whole back seat is, then this is beyond my scope of services.

  4. That's right.

Just got a call of a woman with a 2002 Camry that keeps having these little larvae coming out of her back seat. Nothing crazy, only sees maybe 2-3 every few days. Vacuumed the car like crazy before and it went away for a bit, but has come back.

This is a new one for me. I'm doing research on what I can do to see if I will even take this client on. I don't want her spending money and time on me doing a very extensive detail, only for them to come back a month later or something. I also don't want to spend the time and take her money if I can't perform the service.

Anyone ran into this before? You can bomb a car, but this isn't fleas or anything that I think a bomb will work on.

You can be sure I'll be charging my mold prices most likely, which starts at $300.

  5. Thanks!

that garage is awesome. Can you PM more pictures? Don't want to derail this thread or make a general lounge post? I'd love to see how it looks overall and where that lift goes up to as I see a hole for it to raise higher? This is a great setup and I need ideas for my future garage and my detailing business.

How much did the lift run ya?

  6. I'm getting really tired of this trend of every single webdesigner making web-sites into this blog type template. Try some innovation for once!

Unfortunately, I'd have to say the site is tolerable. I do not like it overall though.

I love the way products look when you're browsing all the products and I like the product pages. Pictures are fantastic as well.

i just dislike the main coding of the site.

  7. All great stuff. You're building a garage almost exactly how I would. However, I would have lights along the wall at waist height for detailing jobs, haha.

Something I've always wondered. How much more would it cost to install drainage in the garage so you could wash inside of the garage?

  8. How many employees do you have? I was looking at the estimated times and they seem fast - at least faster than I can do it.

Also, you will dry with microfiber "cloths", not "clothes". I wish I had some clothes made of microfiber though - I'm sure they'd be awesome.

Ha, good call. Will go through and adjust "clothes" to "cloths".

It's just me for now, but I do have a second employee to jump in for larger scale details. The times are pretty accurate based off my experience. Which times were you most concerned about? Maybe I will reevaluate.

  9. Looks okay, but  you don't mention Adam's products anywhere if that's what you're using.  I think most people who see your site would like to know what products are being used on their vehicles.

Rich, check it now on the About page! I love it! Great idea!

Nice clean website.   I noticed this information:

This service is the essence of necessary maintenance. The type of service that should be done on at least a monthly basis. This service includes the following 20-stage pH neutral hand wash and protectant that will last 3+ months with proper maintenance:

You are giving them 3 months protection but saying they should do it monthly.  Everyone here knows what you mean, but I am not sure the general public will.  I am not sure how to fix it.

Should you offer a monthly maintenance package for those who get the wax package?   Wax, Wash, Wash, Wax, Wash Wash, Wax. etc.   Have the wash for only those who get the wax first.   It would be a way of keeping them a customer with a planned maintenance plan.       Maybe nitpicking I know, but that just caught my eye.

Hmm. I was seeing monthly wash packages on other sites and considered it. I think for now, I will remove that line about doing it on a monthly basis.

    Thank you!

  10. I like the layout and design: simple, clean, effective. Also, good info on yourself and the reason you're in the business, nice touches there.

The one thing that seemed off to me though was the hours for Saturday and Sunday. What is all day exactly? If I show up at 3am, 10am, 5pm, or 11pm you better be there if you're advertising "all day". Otherwise I would be a confused and upset potential customer.

Good call on Weekend hours. I will just put 8am to 8pm.

  11. After nothing but a year of people saying they would build my site and falling out on their promises, I finally decided to hire a professional web designer.

Let me know all thoughts, opinions, criticisms, and quips!

I'm looking for any input on how it could be better or spelling mistakes, etc.! Also, any thoughts on pricing.

    SO EXCITED!

  12. Very interesting thread. I'll have to get a hold of my insurance agent to get a bit more info on what's covered under my policy. It was my understanding that any damage that is caused by me on a customers vehicle is covered.

I think this is where the problem stemmed from. Everyone just assumed they had coverage. State Farm told me I was covered and the gave me a quote and all. I didn't realize I was not covered for what I was looking for until I had questions. I called originally and just asked for detailing business insurance and explained I will not be at home. They said SURE! and got me a quote and all. It wasn't until I said "can we please discuss what this covers?" that I learned it was not at all what I was looking for.

I bet a lot of detailers out there assume they have insurance that covers them damaging a car, but in reality it's just insurance that prevents things like backing the car into a wall or someone tripping on their tools and hurting themselves.

I'm also curious why anyone would purchase garage keepers if they are not storing the car at their home. If the extent of your work is mobile and you're backing in and out of a garage and hit the garage, their own insurance would cover it. Anyone is covered on your insurance as long as you give them permission to drive the car. The only thing you would have insurance for is so that it doesn't use the client's insurance for repair.

  13. Garage Keepers according to both companies does not cover any of that. It covers vehicles at your home that aren't yours and if you're driving their vehicles or storing them and something happens.

It does not cover damage to the car from your work.

If nothing covers any of this, then why are people always saying to be insured? I guess they mean be insured if you're doing it at home with something like garage keepers, so that if something happens to the car while in my possession (but not damage by me), it is covered.
