Maybe, but most likely if you did not pay for it the dealer did not apply it.  I like the non-coating products - Paint Sealant and H20 G&G for my cars.  Others prefer spray coatings.  No wrong answer, just don't mix them.

Thank you for the response. I used Paint Sealant and H2G&G on my wife’s car and really liked the result. The CSC came in the mystery bucket yesterday, first world problems.

  2. I bought a new Toyota 4Runner and I’m wondering if Toyota or the dealer apply any paint sealant. Is that a normal procedure at the factory or at the lot? I did not pay for any extra paint protection package. The car was detailed for the showroom, but I’m guessing that is just a wash and possibly a wax.

I have Paint Sealant and the Ceramic Spray Coating, I’ll have to choose one to apply if the paint is unprotected.

  3. Question regarding buttery wax and paint sealer (detail about cars/plan below)  - Should I also use the paint sealer for car 1 and then use Carnuba (buttery wax + Spray Wax) on top? The products that work together are slightly confusing on the website, and the carnuba products seem to be going out of style replaced by HGG & Ceramics. I have a bunch of carnuba to get through before I can consider a ceramic regimen!

Mystery bucket unloaded and added to the collection. After a ton of research on the website and Youtube videos, I think I have a detailing strategy for my two cars. Took advantage of BOGO's to get the rest of what I needed. (Not shown: Buttery Wax, HGG, VRT, Paint Sealant)

Both cars parked outside in Southern California beach town. Temp never gets above ~75  and it rarely rains.

Car 1 - 2020 White 4Runner (Carnuba based plan since I enjoy detailing this car)

*Buttery Wax base every 3 months

*Spray Wax as a drying agent once per month to refresh wax

*Car Shampoo + Detail Spray weekly

    Car 2 - 2012 White Edge (200k+ miles)

*Paint Sealer base 2x per year

*HGG as a drying agent once per month

*Car Shampoo + Detail Spray bi-weekly (I don't spend as much time cleaning wife's commuter)

Interior shine + VRT + Tire & Wheel cleaner for interior and trim.

Welcome (Back), Matt!  Looks like a solid Mystery Bucket Score!  If you want, don't forget to post it to the Official Mystery Bucket Thread.  You can find it here:

And don't forget to post pics of your rides when you get them shined up!  I have an '06 4Runner, still running strong up here in Chicago, where our weather is very similar to what you described as your weather...  Well except for the temperature...  Wind chill... Humidity...  Ummm...  The sun came out for the first time in three weeks the other day!...  lol

    Thanks BfromORD!

My company office is in Chicago in the Central Loop, I'm just lucky enough to work remote! I chose 1 mile from the beach in a California town with no traffic (for now).
