  1. Just a simple 2-bucket wash and wax with some VRT icing. Used the "old" red shampoo, 2 wash pads, 2 buckets with grit guards for the wash. Then 2 great whites for the drying, before moving to a coat of Buttery and finishing it off with VRT on the tires and trim. Great excuse to be outside yesterday!
  2. I use an Adam's single-soft wrapped around a sturdy-handled spatula. Works flawlessly at getting the far down interior part of the windshield and rear window in my G8.
  3. Is it ok to dress plastidipped trim with SVRT for beading/protection purposes? Yes, I realize I am wanting to protect the protection, haha, but bear with me.
  4. 31 years on this planet: 1991 Buick Century (first car - given by parents) - used, obviously 1999 Oldsmobile Alero 4cyl - new in '98. 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT - used. Totalled. Insurance gave more money than I paid for it:) 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - used. Bought with the insurance money - this is where my love and knowledge of cars started 2009 Pontiac G8 V6 - new. 2009 Pontiac G8 GT - used. Current and best car I've ever owned. Clearly:)
  5. Mook, I'm not sure. I plan on visiting them probably next weekend. I'll give them a call and ask them. They picked them out 28-some years ago, so I'm hoping they'll remember what they paid for them thus distinguishing between the real deal or anodized aluminum. Thanks for that point!
  6. Great point guys. If it doesn't work, then no harm done since it's out anyway. I'll report back! Ryan
  7. Hey guys, question about the abilities of Metal Polish 1 and 2. My parents are trying to spruce up their place in order to sell it. They've received a quote of $2300 just for labor to replace the bathroom tub/sink fixtures and vanity cabinet. I am trying to help them from dumping so much cash into a house they are just planning on moving out of in a few months. The fixtures are brass and very very dirty/corroded. She also said there might be some green spots. They won’t come clean with Windex my mom says, haha. I haven’t inspected them myself in person yet, but what are the odds that Metal Polish 1 and 2 would be able to shine them up? That plus a coat of paint on the vanity and I’d be able to save them thousands of dollars. Thoughts? Ryan
  8. Ah, ok BKazzle you are in the same boat as I am then. I will pull it in and walk around the car to see if there is anything big or if it's just dirty road water spray. I'll mix up my first bottle of Waterless Wash using the 1oz Rinsless: 16oz water to soak the lower third all the way around. I figure maybe that mixed with the Rinseless dripping down (since I'll start at the top) might be a pretty good base of lubricity to keep me safe. And yes, it is VERY nice not to have -16* (-45* wind chill) any longer!
  9. Hmm, ok. Guess I'll have to wait. The hose has been put away and it would be pointless to run through the touchless wash since it's raining out and I'd have to drive home again anyway.
  10. Hey guys, Just got my big shipment which included Rinseless Wash and I'm pumped to try it tonight when I get home from work! My question: It's raining pretty steadily here in the NW suburbs of Chicago but I was planning on pulling into the garage and doing a full Rinseless wash with the 1 bucket method (using 8+ towels only one time, no rinsing). Do you think it will be ok? I'm hoping the rain will wash off all the caked on snow bits and the salt so it should just be a dirty car rather than a salted/frozen ride. Thanks, Ryan
  11. Absolutely stunning results on an even more stunning machine! Nice work!
  12. Great advice from everyone, thank you so much! I'm definitely not leaping without thinking;) It was just an idea that I was wondering how feasible it might be. Kind of looks like I should just stick to my current hobbies and not try to morph them into something like this, heh. I sincerely appreciate the feedback from you guys! Such a wealth of experience here! Ryan
  13. Good call BKazzle! I'll look into that! This idea all came about because I love watching all of those car shows (Chasing Classic Cars, Wheeler Dealers, Top Gear UK, Mecum, etc.) and I thought it'd be pretty awesome to get a foot in and start figuring out how to get in the business. I know it's mainly hopes and dreams, haha, but it sounded like a fun idea and my fiance is completely on board!
  14. Great advice crowvet, thanks!
  15. Hey guys, So my fiance and I are toying with the idea of buying a used (very used) honda/toyota, detailing it, then re-selling to try to make a few extra bucks on it. Purely as a hobby/interest, not because a 2nd source of income is needed. I would search for cars known for their reliability and gas mileage, no major mechanical defects, decent tires, and low/no rust and decent paint that still has the clear coat. I would then detail it and post it for sale for a couple hundred more than what we paid. To anyone that has done this type of flipping, do you have any pointers for me? I do not want to spend money on engine repairs, tires, or anything major as that deducts from the potential profit. Is there anything I should watch out for? Basically, I am open to any and all advice
  16. Alrighty, that makes sense, thanks! I have the full 4" PC polishing kit so I guess I'm armed and ready:)
  17. I'm anticipating some slight issue maneuvering around the angled part of the hood on my G8 that ends in the hood scoops. How did you work around this? Did you just have to not hit those parts with the PC, and then just hit them later by hand, or is the adam's backing plate (also ordered:) ) flexible enough to conquer those angles? Thanks guys for the feedback!
  18. With Ashley's help just now, I was able to order just the PC with the backing plate. I already have all the pads and polishes from gifts and daily specials over the months, so now I finally am taking the plunge into the machine-polishing world! I'm excited! Now to memorize the videos and read everything on the forums about technique:cheers:
  19. Hey Carl, pretty much what Mook said is the only successful option I've come across. Good old sunshine on the deck for about 6 weeks before my fiance put them in her car. She also has the Lloyd's rubber mats, so I know the exact smell that plagues you! On the bright side (no pun intended), the sun really did suck the odor out and now the interior of her car smells completely normal. Ryan
  20. This was hands down the greatest indoor muscle car show I've ever been to. I saw everything from an original, unrestored, near flawless condition 1964 shelby to a top fuel drag car and everything possible in between. Absolutely beautiful! Plus my fiance and I got to say hi to Dylan and the crew as well and pick up a bag full of goods:2thumbs: Great time! Ryan
  21. Yeah I guess that makes sense, especially because I apply it in straight lines. The 2nd application, I make sure to make straight lines perpendicular to my 1st layer. I saw how effective it was in your video after your 1000 mile trek! Thanks for the quick reply Dylan! Curiosity cured:thumbsup:
