  1. I have a question to see if I may have gone overboard on the amount of product used today. Today was my first full detail and list of what i consumed. 2 bottles of detail (clay and detail) 1 bottle of APC 3/4 bottle of Leather and Interior cleaner Did I go overboard a bit? The APC was used for tires/engine/pads I may buy a gallon of Leather and Interior as well as APC cleaner.
  2. Its the Ash Gray, formerly Cyber Gray
  3. A lot of pictures...the pictures are basically start of the day..and proceed to the finished product.
  4. Ill get some more up after a bit, but this is the best shot, with an iPhone. My Nikon wasn't doing the car justice
  5. i removed it after 30 minutes, and it just wiped off. I didn't have any issues with it at all. i followed the instructions on the bottle that said to let it sit on the car for 30 minutes and then wipe down
  6. It was a porter cable. Let me tell you that the El Paso wind and dirt are a pain in the ARSE. I had the garage open to cool me down on the fine polishing, and BAM, the wind picks up and coats the car in dust/dirt. Needless to say I almost had a stroke. Im about to wipe off the sealant then work on the pictures First i need to fix the windows though. I think the interior will have to wait till tomorrow
  7. Well I did it!! Nine hours later, and the Machine Super Sealant is curing. I have a feeling I may have used too much, and am going to be in for a workout removing it..haha Sadly, the job is not 100% as when I put the halogens on it, i could see some fine swirls, but overall I am proud of myself. It was a good job, and took a lot of time. I would say the paint is about 90% swirls/scratch free. The sad thing about this is my new car has a great deal of paint dents from flying debris. We had a bad sand storm, and it really threw some rocks at the car that made some impressions. Did I mention what a pain in the butt the front end of the camaro is? Perhaps some 4" pads would be beneficial there. Ill get some pictures up as soon as I wipe down everything. Boy am I tired. BTW, I have a great deal of learned respect for those of you that do this for a living.
  8. By the way, thank God for not having to. Wipe down the haze off the swirl flashing. Haha
  9. Well the swirl and haze remover step is 90% done. I just need to front end. I am pooped. The mere thought of still doing a fine polish andachine super sealant has me almost to tears. Haha. My back is killing me.
  10. Well I'm done claying and washing. I detailed the engine too. I put the car in the garage and am going to eat lunch quick then get back at it. The big problem I had was with my crappy (new) hose that kept kinking on me. Really pissed me off. Every time i went to wash something water would cut off. I need to read the boards for a good hose recommendation.
  11. First wash and claying is about done. The sun is coming up and drying the detail spray. I am worried about starting the polishing or even doing a deco wash with the sub drying things out
  12. Ok, finally no rain on my day off. First full detail of the car/engine/interior as well as clay bar and polishing about to start. It is 0615 and hopefully I should be done today. I will be taking pictures...WISH ME LUCK.
  13. That was an interesting video. Like others have said, that could have gone very ugly very quickly. It is definitely an experience of a lifetime.

    First DSLR

I have a Nikon D90 and I have to say I do love it. Darn lenses in general on a DSLR are expensive.
  15. Beautiful color and car. I hope to get my Ash Gray Camaro up here for pics, if the weather would ever let me
  16. Good luck to you brother. I am in the same boat as you. Lets see who can get pictures of their project up first.
  17. Yeah, it always comes down to what happens in October. I think we are going to be lucky to make it into the post season this year.
  18. So, If you want to put the glaze followed by americana does this mean that you need to do another waterless wash the next day? So many steps, what do people do in the field when detailing other people's cars.
  19. Well I am a Yankee fan. We are having a rough go, and it looks like we might have lost Mariano Rivera for the season, and possibly forever.
  20. Obvious answer, but I have to ask. If I start off with Fine polish, and decide i need to go up, I basically go up in polish right? Should I clean off the pads in between, or can i set the fine off to the side and just come back to it again after the swirl and haze remover?
  21. One other quick question. I have a Ash Gray Camaro. I see swirls, but don't know how heavy they are. I do have one scratch, that after looking at pictures on the forum, I think could be worked out. I had originally planned on doing the whole car with severe swirl and scratch remover, but am now thinking I may dial it down to the Swirl and Scratch remover. If I do the scratch with the severe, and work my way down, basically overlapping my area when it catches up to the rest of the Swirl and Scratch polish should be sufficient enough right? I hope that makes sense, as in what the severe step puts on the paint will be equal to what the rest of the car is. I really was going to do Severe the whole way, but think I might be over thinking.
  22. Ok, I am still prepping for the big day which will be next week on Tuesday or Wednesday. Frankly, I am a bit worried, but I think i will persevere. I live in the desert, so I am going to try to do the wash/clay/polish all in one day starting in the morning. My question for you is do you think it is necessary to tape off the 2x2 areas or just make a mental mark of where you are working? I am having a semi panic attack that I will start, and become overwhelmed and then have a car that has been polished in some areas and not others, but I'm sure once I start that will subdue. I happened to find Junkman's videos on polishing the side of the car, areas that aren't flat. I am glad I came across that. I was debating trying to wash the car and claying on day one, and then coming back on day 2 for the polish, but frankly I have 2 waterless wash towels, and don't know that I want to do a whole wipe down again, when I can possibly fit it all in a day. My plan would be a 7am-7pm type of day, as I know that washing and claying can take 2-3 hrs done correctly. I appreciate the comments.
  23. I do have to say that this forum is very organized. One doesn't really have to do much of a search since the information is categorized so well. Searching does help though ..haha
  24. I just received my first order from Adams. There were two huge boxes, sadly no mints inside.
