  1. Wow.... What a 10 months it has been... Went from apprehensive about purchasing a PC, to purchasing one and now I'm detailing as a side business and just upgraded to a RUPES and working for a professional detailer as well! Guess I really caught the bug when I got my PC!!
  2. i just finished a little pre holiday detail... clayed on the weekend and got polished today!! probably an 80% correction, but my truck is white so it's kinda hard to tell a huge difference! wished my camera battery wasn't dead. Although i dont know that my truck is "top of the page worthy"!!! (it is to me though!!!!!! )
  3. thanks for the quick replies guys... the improvement is very noticeable, but not perfect... so i'm just gonna keep movin or i'll be claying all weekend!!
  4. Okay guys, i'm prepping my truck for a machine polish. washed with dawn to remove wax and then did the pastic baggie test. my paint felt like sandpaper. so then i started to clay, and clay and clay... heres the problem, after i clay an area, i again do the baggie test. the paint feels 100% better and there are no visible contaminants on the clay. but it's still not smooth as glass with the baggie test. do i keep claying til my arm falls off or is it ok to move on to machine polishing after a few passes with the clay!!!!
  5. Thanks guys... after the baggie test, the paint is smooth as a baby's bottom.... looks like some iron cut, and possibly a machine polish is in the future!!! However ther is a silver lining... i was looking at purchasing the PC DA polisher kit but couldn't convince myself or my wife to let me pull the trigger...guess i don't have a choice now!!! (p.s. my wife's suv is no reflection of how i meticulously care for my truck!!! )
  6. Sorry.. no pics.. i think the streaks would be hard to capture. u have to be at just the right angle and lighting to catch one.. as for the spots, the paint is not cracked, just looks like surface rust. Also i probably was excessive with the detail spray!! And also i washed twice before the clay!
  7. Ok guys.... i attempted to clay for the first time today.. my wifes SUV is white and severely negelted! when i looked at the top it was actually black with dirt!! anyways.. i washed with Dawn (2x's) to remove any wax (if there was any), pulled into the garage and began the claying process.. i kept rubbing and rubbing, but i was noticing faint streaks in the paint.. kinda reminded me of the black stripes you get on your gutters after a while. Thought they would disappear, with clay but they didn't. Also noticed some little brown "rust" colored spots on the rear hatch. I clayed til my arm was numb, they didn't come out!! Once i waxed, the streaks weren't noticeable, but they are still there?? Was this operater error or something else?? Thanks in advance for any responses!!!!
  8. Hey, guys... been lurking for a while, watching videos and reading posts etc. Finally decided to join! I'm not a detailer, but really like to have a clean truck. Unfortunately, i have apparently been going about it the wrong way. Its a white 06 crew cab silverado and for the most part looks new (Lots "improper washes" and waxes). But i just started reading and watching videos and realized i probably have tons of swirls and stuff but just can't see them cause the white paint. I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on the PC da polisher but am a little apprehensive. It is a daily driver and sits outside all the time and i've never machine polished before!!!!!
