  1. Well done.  On my previous job, I had the opportunity to pass through many USAF Auto Hobby Shops around the country.  I think they are a great asset to all of our outstanding Airmen.

    Cheers

  2. I would still recommend doing a complete sealant and wax job before putting the cover on (for added protection).   :)

I agree.   I almost always do a waterless wash wipe down before I put the cover on.

  3. Thanks to everyone for the replies.  I decided to go with Covercraft.  I'll let everyone know how it works out.  I will say that with the amount of trees in my neighborhood (which really means birds), I absolutely need to keep it covered.  Thanks for the advice about keeping it tied down to prevent scratching the clear when it is windy.

    Cheers

  4. Hello All,

Due to a period of unemployment, I let my car cover deteriorate to the point that it needs to be replaced. Now that I have a job offer in hand, and I ready to buy a new, high quality cover for my 03 Porsche Boxster S.  It is parked outdoors all the time, and I live in the DC Metro Area.

Like most on this forum, I am willing to pay for quality, fit/finish and Made in USA.

    Any brand/type recommendations?

    Thanks

    Todd

  5. Thanks for the insight. I need to look more into what they use here. I'm guessing it's some top notch expensive thing here (considering our taxes and the number of self-important people here I'm the DC area… ;-) ) Hopefully it's nothing too harsh, but I do need to keep my Tacoma's underside clean -- those things are notorious for corrosion.

Rich - if you find out what they use here, post it up.  I am a fellow Montgomery County Resident.  My daily driver is coated in whatever that chemical is.

    cheers

  6. I love the SVRT and would recommend it to anyone, however; I would not recommend it for use on running boards if you actually use it as a step. Yes they look awesome when you use it on them and I would even say if you dont use your running boards as a step, SVRT is the way to go. I had to stop using it on my wife's Tahoe because she insists on stepping on them to get in and she almost fell a few times. It does make them slick immediately after application (at least for a week or so). Once it soaks in and/or dries up a bit I would say you have nothing to worry about.

I will say this: I dont want to discredit what Todd said because I have used SVRT on many vehicles and it acts differently on different plastics. Some plastics absorb it better than others and would be less slick or not slick at all. I think it just depends on the application.

So if you want your running boards to look stellar and dont actually need to step on them, SVRT is the way to go. If you ride with others that use the steps (significant other, kids, etc.) and want to avoid a fall at all costs either avoid using it or knock it down with a microfiber after applying it. Either way, SVRT a must for your arsenal. You wont be disappointed.

To add to my post (and thanks Mike for your post), I should mention that my Highlander is 10 years old, so that may have something to do with the SVRT not making the running boards slick.  And lastly, I would also add that I do not step on them every time I get in the car.

  7. Hey All,

The cover I puchased two years ago for my Porsche Boxster (always parked outdoors) is already starting to deteriorate.  It is leaving fine dust all over the car, and I can see that the interior lining of the cover is breaking down.  I am not sure what brand it is, but I think it should have lasted more than two years.

Can anyone recommend a high-quality car cover brand?  Made in USA would be a huge plus.

    Thanks in advance.

    Todd

  8. Since I do not have a garage, I work on the street in front of my house.  My least favorite thing is my neighbors or random people coming by to talk, especially when I am polishing.  They see the Flex and say "how much did you pay for that buffer". I explain it is not a buffer, and when I tell them how much it cost, they say "geez, I got one at AutoZone for $35."  And to that I say "no you didn't".  Then I fire it back up and they leave.

  9. Chase,

Damn good job on the vids. I think they actually augment the Adam's videos by showing your particular method for going through a process. I just got my old man his frist Adam's products for his birthday (WCW, WCW Blue Towels, Detail Spray, Double Soft MF). I am going to direct him to your video, becasue you show how to go through the whole process of using those two products together.

Again, great job. Like the Metallica banner, too, BTW.

    Cheers

  10. All,

Since I have been on the Adam's Forums, I have found this to be a place of well informed, discerning folks, with a low tolerance for crappy products, and an appreciation for stuff that is well made, works as advertised, and provides a good value for the buck.

    Therefore:

Any video camera suggestions for filming sports, waterskiing, family jam sessions, etc?  I am looking at a GoPro Hero HD White Version.  Does anyone have this camera? Is it good?

    Fire away!

    Cheers,

    Todd

  11. Adam,

Thank you for your post.  Like you, I am a California Native, but transplanted to the East Coast for the past 15 years.  I recently had the opportunity to chaparone my son's 5th grade overnight trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia (a place where many of the pivotal events in the revolution took place) .  After the first couple of hours, I realized how little I knew about our Founding Fathers and what they went through to gain our independence. This inspred me to read a bunch of books about the revolution, the values of the people that lead it, and the enduring principles that make this country GREAT!

One of the things that struck me during my reading is that we, as Americans, believe in doing things RIGHT, doing them WELL,  and showing PRIDE in all we do.  I truly believe, that in our world of auto detailing, Adam's embodies these values, first and foremost.  That is what makes you, Adam, a great American, and Adam's a great company with truly AMERICAN values.

I SALUTE you and your team.

    Todd

  12. Eric,

Your truck looks AWESOME. Nice work.  I was interested to see that you used Revive on the black pad.  I have been thinking of doing that myself, since I have a full bottle of Revive, which I bought before I realized that hand-polishing is not a realistic way to go.  So I stepped up to the Flex (what a great tool!), and have been learning the art of machine polishing.  Looks like you got great results with the Revive, black pad and speed 2 on the Flex.  Any other tips?  Does it flash really fast?

Again - great work - thanks for your post!

    Todd

  13. Hey Brent,

Welcome to the Forums.  I was in your same situation about a year ago, when I first started using Adam's products.  Learned how to do a proper two-bucket wash, and took off from there.  Now a year later, I am up to machine polishing with the Flex, and get a lot of pleasure out of having the tools to do the job right.

For sure you want to watch the full set of videos.  Read up on the Forums, and post up your questions.  This is a very friendly group of folks, and you will be amazed how many people will step up with advice.

    Enjoy the process.

    Cheers

    Todd

  14. Dylan,

Thanks for sharing that write-up. Nothing like a good road-trip.  After fully-Adamsizing my Porsche last weekend, my son and I did what we call "aimless driving around".  Top-down, cranking the Van Halen, just enjoying the ride.  Doing the occasional burnout, especially if a Prius was nearby.  Your trip was a lot longer, but in the same spirit of quality time with cars and family.  Having an incredibly clean, shiny ride makes it just that much better.

    Cheers to you.

    Todd
