I thought i might share the results from the labor of today

First - that post was not to encourage anyone to wet sand their paint. Its very risky! but with the scratches and dozens of rock chips that aren't seen in the photos it was worth the risk for me. plus I have spray guns and can repaint if needed. second - that was kind of my point to show that the pc can do an awesome job and if I had BOTH then we would have had the time for beers, because he could have been helping. Unless you plan on doing this every weekend and inviting friends over just so you can show off your talent on their cars (practice) its kind of hard for to justify the time saving/price increase of the Flex.

Around 38° stuff starts acting kind of funny. Below 36° pads clog and dry really fast and you begin wasting product trying to correct for the strange conditions. Around 33° stuff just stops working altogether, spray bottles clog, pads stick and skip, doesn't take long before you realize your going nowhere fast!

You won't be dissapointed with the PC. In this pic you can see where the door was not done and the quarter panel was swirl removed and polished with the PC, no sealent or wax. On the hood there were scratches that I couldn't remove using a drill and 4" pads and since the orange peel is heavy I decided to wetsand. The left side of the hood was polished but on the right, the last two rafters in the reflection is where I wet sanded 1000 up to 3000 grit then polished, green, orange, white with the PC. In short the PC can do! The fender is still wet sanded waiting to be polished. Polished fender orange peel removed. Now, after all that I will probably be adding a flex 3401 to my tool list. Why? You ask. Because in less then a month since I received my PC I've polished 4 cars and I'm working my full time job almost 60 hours a week so I need to get done faster. Also I invited a friend over to polish his car for his birthday and having two polishers would have saved us enough time to go out for beers afterwards.

I seemed to have problems with my pads clogging below 36° and things did slow down a bit. Above 40° every thing seemed normal.

As far as the fingernail catching , I'm not sure cuz I hit it a few times with severe swirl remover before I learned of that test, thinking I may have rounded the edges my nail does not catch. So its hard to tell. Thanks BRZN it sounds like I need a flex or a rotary?!? This is what I did today After hand sanding to 3000 grit and polishing with m105 on a 3" orange pad on a drill (cuz that's all I have on hand) I could still see sanding marks. So i went back to 3000 on the PC speed 4 - 3.5" backplate. then repeated m105 and things look a heck of alot better. I can still see some 3000 hand marks but its at a point of "good enough". Then went severe, swirl, polish. Cellphone pics, In this pick you can see where I stopped polishing on the second rafter in the reflection from the right and on the far left was not sanded. The fender on the right was sanded and polished as stated above. The hood was only polished. That process takes way too long. I need to get from 2000 to severe swirlremover much faster. Im having trouble removing these scratches , i resulted to wet sanding but created different scratches of lesser value using, 1500, 2000 then 3000 grit followed by green, orange, white Adams polish. Is M105 more aggressive then Adam's green? Thanks

Yes it is I don't know what the guy before me did to it but the hood is, well here are a few pics. this is after 3 applications of severe swirl remover with green pad then orange pad with swirl and haze remover then white and polish. Ive been around paint long enough to be able to see that some prior corrections have been attempted, in the top picture with the etching marks it looks like someone tried to polish it with a rotary buffer and a dirty pad and skipped a few steps in between. thats my best guess anyways. Then there is the long scratches where it looks like someone wiped the car down with metal chips in a rag plus a dozen or so rock chips. Who knows what happened to it other then the owner, anyways its a Subaru not a show car. In other words, its meant to be driven That brings me to the point of, what is the best/fastest way to fix this or should I just repaint it?

Im from the Medina area. ;)Yesterday Today There is still a learning curve going on here, but i would say this is my official first try at swirl remover/paint correction with the PC i used Severe swirl remover w/green pad twice before moving on to the swirl/haze remover with orange pad polish white pad sealant grey pad ran out of time for red/wax... On the hood this process revealed some deeper scratches that the camera wouldn't pick up, the previous owner must have used the pay n spray plastic brush to wash this car and never waxed it Sorry if I'm if I am annoying anybody with my constant updates but I'm excited about my new hobby

Even though it was only 34° outside today, I had a few hours before work to lay down a coat of sealant on the truck with the pc, I must say WOW, not a swirl to be found I also have a few bikes ...

Indeed, I really wanted a 08' FSXTi mt but they are so rare and hard to find I settled for a STi

Well since my garden hose is frozen and it was only 30° outside today I decided to test my new PC and polishes indoors. I now have very shiney and protected bathtubs and showers :-) I am pleased with the PC and can see why so many people use them. Now to drink away the pain in my back and left side ribs...
