whiterp199
Well as promised here is my review of Road Wrap. Mods I was unsure of the best place to put this since it is not an Adam's Product so feel free to move it. My initial impressions where it was pretty good. The wrap went on easily however the cutter they supplied did not work the greatest. I ended up using a razor blade and and being careful. If I was going to get it again I would get a wider sheet. I thought the 6 inch wide would be easier to put on, but in some spots it was not. I also noticed the wrap sticks to paint really well. None of it came off even in 1100 miles of driveing in not the best conditions. 300 in Pa before I left school, and about 800 from my to home. I went across 80 on to the Ohio and Indiana turnpikes and up 94 through Chicago and finally arrived home. However where I did stick the Road Wrap to itself it came undone, but only up to the point where it was stuck to paint then It stayed put. I would also buy there tool for applying the wrap it was like four dollars and really helped get the air bubbles out. On to the pics. Some of the testing conditions Unboxing Before Installation I know I am kind of parked in the grass but it is the only way to avoid door dings in this parking lot. Installing As you can probably tell I started with the a Pillars and roof. As I got down to the bumper my hands were freezing more and more so the job was not as neat. Installation went very smooth. It is not the prettiest but I did not really care how neat it was since I was going to be taking it off in 24 hours anyway. If you were to take your time you could get it on very well. Here is first time I stopped in Ohio before I got to the storm. You can see it is holding up pretty well. In Indiana during the storm. And Finally home. Before pulling the wrap off. She was so dirty. This pic shows where I stuck the wrap to itself and it came up a little bit. This happened in PA but it never came off the paint, even around 80+ miles an hour for long periods of time. I also emailed them a couple of questions and got responses back in about twenty minutes. If I was going to do this Again I would put it behind the tires as well. I was impressed with how well this worked. It protected the front from tons of salt and snow on the way back.
whiterp199
I am uploading a couple vids showing how easy this was to remove. I will put them here when they load.
02Xtreme07ss
Ray....thanks for taking the time to try this stuff. I'm definitely going to order some in the spring and keep it around for long trips.
09G8GT
Nice write up. Thanks for the review. Wish I had known about this before my 1600mi round trip to MI this summer. Have a couple chips I need to fix this spring that this stuff might have saved me from.
LDM
I know I am kind of parked in the grass but it is the only way to avoid door dings in this parking lot. Haha, you park like I do. I once went up to Bangor for a concert and had to park in a parking garage. I got there early, went up a couple extra levels, and then found a nice corner spot. I tucked the right side of the G8 so close to the wall that anyone who saw it probably thought I had no clue how to park, but I didn't have anyone riding shotgun so this gave me maximum clearance on the driver's side to prevent any dings. Back on topic though, good write up on the Road Wrap. It might not be the best looking thing on a car, but it looks better than the masking tape alternative people use. From afar I bet it's hardly noticeable.
Marylander
Nice write-up. I've never seen that stuff in stores... where did you find it, and what's a box of that cost? Rich
whiterp199
I got it online at buyroadwrap.com The roll I got was 6 inches by 100 feet for about 10 dollars. They have other sizes as well. I believe an 18 inch by 100 foot roll is 30 dollars. I used a little less then half the roll for all I covered.it is cheaper then a roll of blue tape.I believe. Laid GP
That is really cool, I've seen it in magazines but never any "Joe blow" reviews. Even better that you have my car's twin (almost)! I think I will invest in some of this
WheelMaker
Interesting product. BID (Back In the Day) we used to do this with blue painter's tape when taking cars on longer drives to car shows. etc. These days most of my cars have 3M clear shield on them - even the work van has it! (It also has an "Adam's" sticker on the back window )
whiterp199
Ray, Thanks for the update. How long was your drive home with it on? Sorry for the late reply. I had the wrap on for about 48 hours and 1100 miles I believe. I put it on a little while before I left as that was the only time I had.
littlemt
What are your thoughts on this product: http://www.buyroadwrap.com/ it appears to stick on the car, I wonder if this will damage the paint or cause swirls.... I like the sound of this product, not just for traveling but also for when that cold air intake needs to be installed, or working on the car in general.... am curious to hear what folks think of this stuff.. Chris@Adams
Do a search, it seems like someone tried it a while back. I would use a product like this (on a road trip) even if it did scratch a bit. I can remove scratches,I can't remove rock chips!
whiterp199
I used it on a trip from PA to Wisconsin through a snow storm. Here is my review. http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9603 I would use it again. It does seem to remove wax when you pull it off though. It looks like someone put masking tape all over your car. Im sure it protects the paint, but IMO its a major eye sore. Why not just get the 3m tapeing done. You do it once, it looks good and it will protect the paint!

I can buy road wrap for the life of the car for less than this. Also I like the ability to take it off if need be. I used to use blue painters tape on long road trips though. I am not a big fan of the line the 3m clear bra leaves either.

If I wanted to get my whole front bumber done, plus the mirrors, i would have been another $250. so $500 total, which is a good deal!
Chewy
I paid 800 for FULL bra install which included some custom pieces and front and rear side and rear window tint. I love it. Sure, you can see it, but it's better than 1000 rock chips. I drive the interstate everyday. Chris
